Is this under the assumption that Belichick leaves as coach? Or just steps down as GM?

I think if Bellichick retires, then yeah, its a wildly ideal job because its got the prestige that any GM would want. If its a GM coming in to try and manage Bill, then its by FAR the worst job in the league...better to go fail in Carolina or Arizona or something

 

Yes I am under the assumption bill will not accept a role reduction in New England.

 

I do think the only downside is the coach is already picked, so the setup would be more of Mayo dictating the players he wants and needs and a GM finding them and acquiring them.

Nah, clearly a correct call...and as the commentators pointed out, had he just set a screen instead, it has the same effect without risking a penalty.

edit: The rule, where in the video you can clearly see Lazard leads with his forearm. Its not like the defenseless reciever rules, where you either have to make contact to the head/neck area or lead with your shoulder/head like that...its any contact to a defender with your helmet/forearm/shoulder.

It is a foul if a player initiates a block when his path is toward or parallel to his own end line and makes forcible contact to his opponent with his helmet, forearm, or shoulder.

They actually had the refs even looking out for players to instead block with their hands or basically take a screen NBA style

Special emphasis is being placed on actions that are 1) not forcible/actions by the defender, 2) actions that meet the directional requirements but are not deemed forcible contact, and 3) actions where the defender braces for impact or even initiates contact himself.
