i talked about this on twitter with @Dinkleberg this morning and i keep thinking about the messaging on draft day. for weeks after the trade and reich coming in, if not full months, it seemed like stroud was the guy. he fit reich's pattern with QBs and if anything would have been his smallest to date, but at least was in the mold. then the pick comes in and in the days following all the messaging was "ever since we made the trade we have not wavered from it being bryce." i genuinely wonder if reich came in expecting to a) not have #1 since it was obviously before the pick and deal with Corral or maybe trade up to 4 or something for AR or b) to take stroud at 1 and has just been making due with bryce since he doesn't fit anything we've seen in reich's career as a QB style that he builds an offense around. it's so frustrating.
