I'll say, Sushi is the worst vessel for the ingredients of maybe any food I've encountered. Ingredients wise, freaking delicious...but its like when someone gives you a burger that's got 20 layers of shit and expects you to eat it with your hands, it just doesnt work. Most sushi I've had is more than any reasonable mouthful, is not easily cut in half with chopsticks or your mouth, and thus fails as a food vessel

Give me half the food in twice the total portions and it'd be fire

edit: Also, I've probably only had good sushi at like 2-3 places (one in seattle, one in hawaii, one in the phillipines)...so quite possible theres places that do it right

 

Just had our closing delayed over a week because the person buying it (putting down 3%) had to go through like 6 layers of bureaucracy to do Maryland first time homebuyers stuff...finally close last night...and I can now see why it was such a nightmare, she rolled all her student loans into the mortgage as well.

the interest rates are the worst. In doing the math on the payment on my new house, we would save about 35% per payment if the rates were 3.25 instead of 7.5. It’s wild how much that impacts buying power.

that said, we went from offer acceptance on Sunday night to fully appraised, inspected, and loan approval in five days, so the process can still go going hella fast once you get past the initial bullshit.
