People are really stretching it when they say DeBoer’s dull personality is why these kids aren’t staying and recruiting is a problem. The guys that left were gonna leave if it had been Lane, Lanning, Dabo, Sark, whoever. They were there for Saban, not the university. And that’s fine, whatever. DeBoer has actually brought a few nice players from Washington over and Ryan Williams is fired up about him, so I’ve been pretty happy so far given the circumstances.

Auburn hired Durkin as DC. If we could do just one thing to not be the most hated team in CFB that would be great...

Posted this in the NFL thread but we trying to keep that Ravens style defense going. I am interested to see if he mixes his coverages more in the NFL like Mac and Minter did. From what I have seen he runs way more cover 0 and cover 1 than what they did. Mac and Minter were running more disguised zones stuff, particularly in big games.

Smart for Moore do bring in a guy at DC who doesnt need any hand holding. Smart to not have to change scheme/terminology for what should be a loaded defense next year. I do think he will have to adapt a little to less C0 and C1. We'll see.

This is not meant to knock the Martindale choice bc I think it's a good hire and it probably will work out, but I think the challenge for guys going from the NFL to college from a defensive standpoint is making your scheme relatable to players. Things like similar terminology is good. I think for people who haven't made that transition is when they bring their NFL system to college, but it's too much for players to digest. Disguising your coverage and doing exotic blitz packages sounds great on paper, but if players can't execute it and run with it, it's not a good system. Probably less of an issue in the era we are in now, but just a general observation from watching over the years.

In terms of UM specifically, I think most would agree that the season being a success or not will rely on how the offense performs. The defense would really need to have a big regression for them to not (mostly at least) carry their water.

Can't think of a program that's gone all out like Ohio State has this offseason.

I thought Chip got fired. He chose OC at OSU over HC at UCLA wow

Am I following this correctly that Bill O’Brien was just hired as Ohio State OC in January and already left to coach Boston College and now Chip Kelly, who was still UCLA head coach is now the Ohio State OC?

Weird to from HC at a large school to OC elsewhere but his run at UCLA wasn’t very good and moving to the Big Ten would likely have UCLA floundering in the middle of the conference or worse so it’s a smart move for him to leave now on his own vs getting fired in a year or two.

    College Football 25 news:

Holt also told the network that gamers will not be able to create an opted-out player, but “I won’t reveal how we’re dealing with that."

    that kinda sucks actually

Arch Manning isn't going to opt in and we're going to have Arthur Lanning in the game instead

It sounds like they are going to block edits on the generic players.
