I expected Sawyer back. JT I feel like could've gone either way

So I am just guessing that he is the most "northern" Bama coach ever? Feel like this has similar smells of when Michigan hired Rich Rod and that culture shock he ran into.

It's an odd fit, but let's see the staff he assembles first. If he can bring Grubb with him and maybe steal someone like Schumann back from UGA then he might be cooking.

This is fair because I think one of the many downfalls of Rich Rod was him just bringing his buddies in as assistants and most of them sucked lol.

This has been such a weird and surreal couple of days. I can’t even imagine what an Alabama game without Saban will be like.

I really don’t know how to feel about this hire until I see the performance on the field. I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it. It just feels like a hire. I dunno. I’m hoping for the best. It’s just gonna be fucking weird, man.

Basically just thinking about the past 15+ years of memorable moments, plays, players, etc… Man, what a fucking ride. Seeing all these former players like Tua, Jalen, Smitty, Najee, Bryce, McCarron, Ingram, Hightower, etc… coming out and talking about Saban and Miss Terry and their impact. This shit is so emotional for me. I can’t believe it’s over. It sucks, but I knew at some point it was gonna end.

I think doodoobird really sucks but I think it’s okay to mourn losing the greatest CFB coach of all time.

No he didn’t but everyone knows it’s the end of an era for Alabama and CFB as a whole. Most Bama fans are dealing with a combination of happiness for him as a person for retiring, gratitude for all the success he brought, lots of nostalgia/retrospection over how great the last 17 years have been, and a little bit of fear of the unknown moving forward. It might seem weird from the outside, but it’s a new experience and unique experience for us.

I will cry into my SEC championships and litter of NFL draft picks first.

Let me grieve with the only other Bama guy in this thread. Go get stuck in a hedge and watch your mascot fly into a glass wall, you bitter asshole.

and there’s a good example of why most other sec fanbases aren’t sad or all that empathetic to the sadness

LOL stay classy folks. No wonder people hate Bama. Entitled, annoying ass fans. I miss when they used to suck before Saban got hired. Hoping they fall into a Tennessee like pit of despair for a decade or so.

I’m just glad Lanning stayed. He has really impressed me the last two years and the program needs stability instead of coaches who use it as a stepping stone. Obviously Oregon got lucky as the coaches who did use the program as a stepping stone have not done well at all. Lanning seems like the real deal and I’m excited to see where he can bring the program in the Big Ten. Oregon definitely seems far better equipped for the transition than the other three former PAC 10 schools.
