I love the chaos because the whole system does not work. 10 teams make money and 100+ don’t. Schools lose money going to bowl games. The system is broken as shit so burn all the conferences down and start from scratch.

What i don't understand though is if a conference keeps adding more teams, dont they all get less money?

Get the Big Four to 20 each. Relegate the rest to FCS. Do the same thing with the FCS - four conferences but with 30 each instead. Relegate the rest to Division II. Do the same thing - four conferences but with 40 each.

That’s where the pro-rel comes in. Institute promotion-relegation in this and I’m sold.

Top 3 from each + four at large make the playoffs.

Last place in each gets relegated. Final four in FCS get promoted

Need more teams relegated/promoted. 4 isn’t much when you’re talking about 80 teams. I’d say bottom 3 in each conference. 12 rotating out, 68 sticking around gives plenty of year to year consistency but enough of a threat/hope for those in flux

I like it but id counter the system we got. Conf Champs get byes. The other 8 are at large bids.

Let's be real. The acc and big 12 are gonna be worse than the ten and sec, no need to give the 3rd place acc team a place.

But otherwise I like it @CarpetElf

Forget that. With your relegation system, give me North Dakota St and James Madison embarrassing ohio st. Gotta think bigger my friend!

Arizona, Arizona state, and Utah officially joining the big 12. PAC 12 only has 4 schools left now for the 2024-2025 season

Relegation system seems like it would be really bad for college sports

why would you spend one of you four years at a place where maybe you can play at the top level next year when you can just transfer to a school where you can play at the top level now?

    The rivalry is back on

Pro/rel sounds great to me, the common sports fan

Negative 10% chance that university presidents at any school in the ‘in’ crowd would ever sign off on a system that no longer guarantees they stay in that group and get their fat TV checks

The main thing for me is that we have long needed a FBS split somewhere around the 40-60 team mark, and it would have been great if it happened with the current conference structure, but instead it’s going to be with these weird super-conference alignments where B1G and SEC become basically the AFC and NFC of college football

which ultimately is fine IMO if it comes with the acknowledgement that top level football players are pro athletes and are compensated accordingly, but it’s gonna be weird for awhile
