I don’t think I pictured UGA taking the step from being one of the top 10 or so programs but never the best (and rarely a major threat of being the best) in the 00s and the 10s to undeniably the best program in college football, so this is really cool

I had people who don't watch football, who I don't talk to on a regular basis, texting me saying they feel bad for TCU.

Have no idea who Mattress Mack is so I googled him and saw something that said he put 6M on Alabama last year so he’s doing real well losing 9M in two games

Was I the only person that got Rob Lowe vibes every time they showed Stetson’s mom in the crowd?

And what I mean by that is from when they kept showing Rob at the Super Bowl last year (or year before) with an expressionless look on his face while wearing an NFL logo hat. Not sure what was on her hat but but it looked generic, no Georgia logo and she just kept that same look on her face like Rob did lol

it was a Stetson Bennett custom hat

his nickname is “The Mailman” and it was a play off the USPS logo (so, intentionally generic)

Wonder how things would have gone if it were OSU v Michigan and TCU v Gerogia. Maybe we would have seen a great NT game between OSU and Georgia.

All good. This was one of the more entertaining final 4s in a while. The magic run out and the best team is the champ in the end. Fun having a different team in there for once

I think that the flaws of a committee selecting teams for a playoff were once again on display. I know that there really isn’t a better way with NCAAF since there are so many teams, but a championship game should not play out like that. One team literally gave up.

Feeling pretty good about my going to bed at halftime decision. Yeesh. I wonder if we'll see Georgia-Bama-Tennessee as the final 1-2-3 of the season.

Georgia's season is just not fair next season. Just pathetically gross - how can they, or any college, get by with these soft schedules?

The out of conference schedule is bad next year, but Georgia has at least scheduled home and homes with some good teams in the past. Next year they have Clemson I believe. It’s hard for me to rip football scheduling too much bc of how far out you have to do it. Best laid plans can turn quickly. That’s not the cast for next year I realize, but most of the time it is. At this point there is little to gain by scheduling good teams out of conference if you are an SEC school. And to a lesser extent the Big 10, and then the Big 12 and PAC 12.

  17. I most assuredly do not fucking like him but that’s mostly from his woeful WWE commentary lol. Yelling everything you say in a completely exasperated manner doesn’t make this moment as important as you think it does, Patrick.

Will Auburn and Florida stay down forever? It's hard to fault Georgia too much when two of their biggest games every year are coming off pretty out of their average seasons when you look at the last two decades. Will Ole Miss, Tennessee, and South Carolina continue upward trajectories? Will Mizzou and Georgia Tech bounce back? Those can all be difficult games depending on just a few factors/key players. Kentucky seems to be regressing to their mean, and Vandy is Vandy... but like, every conference division has their Kentucky and Vandy.

UT-Martin, Ball State, and UAB bounce around the SEC collecting pay checks, sure. Two of them qualified for bowls this season. Tennessee played the first two this year, so I'm aware that all SEC schools do this too. It supports the regional football structure by flooding smaller schools with money for athletics. But you can't look at 65-7 and say they're not good enough.

They were supposed to kick off a home/home against Texas next year and that got cancelled because they can’t do the second leg with conference realignment

but also yes, the highest level of college football desperately needs contraction so that you don’t get schedules like that
