If all it takes is a max to get George back to LA, it’s hard to see the Clippers not begrudgingly offer it eventually? They don’t have control of their first until 2030. Even if they want him gone I feel like they have to at least try to retain then trade him

All that to say, I don’t truly believe *this* is the offseason the Magic need to do anything drastic. Feel like it can be a year away. Let’s see if those other draft picks, Houston, Howard, and Black, can actually do something with another year in the league.

Probably a bit naive though. Maybe the FO feels like it needs to do a move like the Wolves and find a Gobert type piece that ultimately won’t show the fruit until a year or so from now.

That is a weird note to drop in there at the end. If there is a connection between Gobert's absence and his unborn child, then just report that. Or just do what everyone else did and report that he is questionable for personal reasons and leave it there.

DJJ has been a revelation for us defensively and just setting the pace this season on a MEGA friendly contract. True definition of a guy who has bought in and really embraced his role. I hope we don't fuck him over and lose him in free agency.

 

that being said, I'm not gonna sit here and talk shit and act like this will be easy. It's a fun/intriguing match up, and GL to all involved.

Riley's comments pretty much made it clear that they weren't going to have a major roster overhaul so duh he's going to have to retool the offense and defense if they are going to keep the same core.

Definitely agree in theory, but with the new CBA rules going into effect, there might be significant opportunity for Orlando to improve this offseason as I believe teams are going to shed valuable guys to avoid some significant penalties. As one of the only teams with cap room and the bonus of actually being competitive (along with OKC, Philly, and the Spurs, solely for the Wemby appeal), Orlando might be "forced" to make a huge splash this offseason rather than later.
