Wolves have good matchups against Denver / OKC / LAC but they do not want to see Phoenix or New Orleans in the first round, so they might not even get to play them.

there’s still so many moving parts, the West is a bloodbath.

 

A lot of people think the Mavs might make an upset, but I have major doubts on them until Kidd gets fired (next year)

 

If THJ figures his shit out, and PJ keeps up his 3pt shooting, I think the Mavs are going to be a tough out for anyone (speaking strictly from what I've seen them do lately). Luka and Kyrie demand so much attention that if the role players are consistent, they don't need to be superheroes every game. Also, the 1-2 punch of Gafford and Lively in the paint has been a revelation, if they stay out of foul trouble. It's been a very long time since I've seen this kind of energy and focus on defense, and it feels like Kidd has been a bit more involved lately (by god he's even emoting and coaching from the sideline). I still don't trust him either, but I think the team has the talent to overcome his shortcomings if they stay consistent.

 

It's happening.

 

All that being said, the West is going to be tough, but some teams are showing some cracks while others are getting hot at the right time. It's gonna be a really fun playoffs, that's for sure.

 

Tough out I agree with, but I think taking a team to 6 or 7 is more likely than a series win.

Both are way more likely than a sweep tho, Denver would be the only team I think they really don’t want to see.

Also their improved defense is still not great, Luka really has to go off consistently to keep them in games to begin with.
