green is already three years into his career and there is absolutely no indication he will be better than bridges in the slightest lmfao

 

I’m just not sure who Brooklyn thinks Bridges is. He’s a third option on a title team at best. And has regressed quite a bit this season.

 

Are we talking about the same guys? Their stats on the season are about even, and Jalen Green is averaging 30+ points in the last few weeks, he’s been on fire.

Jalen had a rough start to the season but Bridges has been a huge letdown for Brooklyn all year too.

Green is arguably better than Bridges right now, I definitely see him surpassing him in a year or two. He's on the right trajectory to be a #1 option on a good team, something Bridges has failed to become given the opportunity.

 

both can be true. bridges isn’t a dawg and green isn’t a top 10 under 25 guy. i wouldn’t want either. i get why brooklyn would want to keep the known quantity.

 

he’s in his third year lol. this month-long stretch, which is encouraging, is the only encouragement there has been to take from his career so far. he is absolutely not better than bridges right now. what are you talking about. the best asset in the trade would have been whatever pick was involved, but i also get why brooklyn wouldn’t be stoked on selling that idea to the 12 fans in the fanbase given their history with trading faces of the franchise for picks lol.

 

also it shouldn’t be lost on anyone that this increased productivity with green is coming from a time without sengun where they’re relying more on small ball lineups with jabari at the 5, which aren’t going to and shouldn’t last forever since they are clearly sengun’s team

 

If you think a 22 year old with an up and down season has peaked for his career and Bridges is a “face of the franchise” I don’t think I can take you seriously on this lol

 

where did i say he peaked lol. find it for me. i said he’s playing his best basketball in the last month and the rest of his three year career isn’t encouraging. bridges is by definition the current face of the nets, for better or worse. he is also a better player than green, though neither are great. what are you doing lol

I think when you’re mediocre enough you don’t really have a face of the franchise. And treating Bridges like one when he’s a strong role player at best is why the Nets have one of the bleakest outlooks for any team, no rising star player, no picks!, and no plan for the future. They’re a team in desperate need for a blow-up, were offered a great package to start one, and turned it down.

Green is a rising star player, even in his most disappointing future he’s a better prospect than anyone on the Nets. And if picks were included in the deal it’s so much worse to turn down, even if Green does flame out they could flip him for more picks.

I feel vindicated by the Nets subreddit for calling the front office basketball terrorists for this. It’s one of the dumber trade declines I’ve seen, and it’s when Green was playing his worst too. The only reason it got leaked is because he’s been playing so well lately.

The Nets are going to keep overvaluing Mikal and end up with a weak package when they do eventually trade him.
