Took awhile for me to hate Dave Caldwell, yeah, that was a steady decline. In hindsight I should’ve been harder on every draft / free agent class except 2016. I kept trying to talk myself into players we drafted under the guise of “it takes time to develop”

What do you think about Austin Allen? Can he block?

That's a huge TE. If he can block, someone might get some good value in the late rounds for a TE3 that can turn into a solid TE2.

 

Clean player who was underutilized. By my count he's one of only three tight ends in the draft who had a perfect pass block season on top of no penalties whatsoever. One of those three only played five games and rarely was used as a run blocker, the other was the third least utilized blocking TE in the draft. Highest contested catch rate in the draft too. You get him with a good coach who uses tight ends and dude could become something pretty dangerous. He's one of the guys I'm dying to see test the most. Not to be a total homer but if Drew Sample and Adam Shaheen could go in the second I don't see why Austin Allen can't

 

Put 20 pounds on him and use him as an athletic swing tackle that's eligible
