You all don’t think he’ll be really good for another 5 years?

    (:

Nope especially with how the other three teams are built in that division.

there is a real chance the broncos pay him almost $300m and they don't make even a wildcard during his tenure

Wait until you find out how much the Angels are paying Trout only to hit 7 consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance. Pretty wild he has more MVP's than postseason hits.

I just don’t think Wilson’s game is going to age particularly well. He already doesn’t scramble and run as much as he used to and he greatly to prefers targeting his receivers outside the numbers and deep down the field. Hardly targets the middle portions of the field. Any time a new OC was implemented in Seattle, it ultimately became the offense that Wilson wanted to run, not the OC’s. I’ll be surprised if that changes with Nathaniel Hackett now.

Also, with the rise of DCs running more two-high coverages to limit big plays, Wilson is going to need to alter his game accordingly. He started the 2020 season red hot, but once defensive coordinators caught onto his game, they planned accordingly and Wilson played mostly poorly from the Bills game onward. His end of season stats look good on paper, but his touchdowns drastically dropped from the first seven games of that season to the last nine, which his interception and sack numbers stayed roughly the same.

How often does a QB this late in their career change the way they play the game? Wilson needs to show a willingness to adjust his game. I still think he’s a good enough QB to lead the Broncos to a winning season for the first time in years, but that might not be enough to get them into the playoffs, let alone win a game or two in January considering the increased level of QB play and teams in the AFC.

They were 7-10 with a QB who couldn't beat out Geno Smith, but sure, they're not gonna be good lol

Teddy started and played for the Broncos for almost all of last season, not Lock

I’m not trying to imply that Russ isn’t a huge upgrade over Teddy and Lock. He certainly is, but he still might not be enough to get them past nine or ten wins while being in the most competitive division in football.

And let’s not pretend like Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are on par with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. Dude is absolutely getting a downgrade in his WR corps.

Not saying Sutton/Jeudy can’t be a good duo, but there’s some projection you need to do for them. Metcalf and Lockett are fucking DOGS.

Admittedly I don't totally understand some of the deeper analytic stats but on The Athletic NFL Show this week they mentioned that Wilson has a lower EPA/play out of empty sets than Jimmy G and Teddy Bridgewater. Seems bad!

Right, he's getting a marginal downgrade on the only position group worth a damn in Seattle, and a wild upgrade everywhere else lol. If i'm projecting wins for the division i'm just gonna assume everyone is going 1-1 verse each other because it's a slaughterhouse. So there's 4 right there. They have 11 remaining games against: Seattle, Houston, San Fran, Indy, Jets, Jags, Titans, Carolina, Ravens, Cardinals after Call of Duty, Rams,

There's easily 7 wins in there and that's not even counting Indy or the Titans

Also holy shit what a layup of a schedule the AFC West has lol. I'm sticking with all 4 are getting into the playoffs.

Okay, but how many times have we seen Russ absolutely shit the bed against some goofy team he never should have lost to in the first place? I mean, he looked pathetic against the New York fucking Giants in 2020

This stuff happens all the time. It’s why I don’t really care about predicting wins because so much happens throughout the course of a season. All it takes is a couple injuries to change the outlook of a team.

Just went back and looked at his stats from 2020 and 2019 and I don’t know what I’m missing here! It will definitely be interesting to see how he does here. I’ve always felt he’s put up great numbers despite super conservative play calling and a bad o-line. He shouldn’t have that now so we will see

By that logic we should be projecting the Jaguars to be great because now and then they win a game lol. Shit happens. If I'm projecting, i'm gonna use the much much larger sample of "yeah, he's really fucking good" vs. "but wait, there was that game against the Giants where he stunk!"

I will say his last few playoff performances have been really disappointing. I still want to see him with this new head coach though before I say he’s fallen off

Did you look at his 2020 stats in halves? His TD numbers are extremely propped up by his first seven games compared to from the Bills game onward, which was the first game he notably started struggling in and continued to struggle for the remainder of the season.

I just looked overall. I don’t doubt it but damn getting 40 tds and having a bad second half of the season is hard to do haha

I’m not even saying he’s a bad QB. I think he’s good! I’m just concerned about where his play is at now and how he will play into his late 30s now that he’s under contract through his age 40 season.
