I have no idea if he will be good or not, and by no means am I comparing the two talent wise, but I feel like Trey Lance is on the same trajectory as Josh Allen was his first 3 seasons where literally every throw in every practice in every pre season game & in every regular season game will come with endless: “is he a bust?” chatter.

 

meh maybe? Allen actually played as a rookie though....and hes got a much better arm

the thing with Lance is that hes only had like 350 pass attempts total since high school

If Lance isnt a stud this year or next, I think that trade goes down as worse than the RGIII trade, because not only will he be less proven and less valuable in outcome, but he'll also have tanked a team that was perennially decent, rather than the WFT who was perennial top 5 fodder.

Also, spending two 3rds and a 5th on RBs and then starting the 5th rounder....

 

Lance also has a very good arm

Its funny, Jake Locker is my go to for "guy with a cannon of an arm" who was clearly trash. But when I went to his draft profile and saw he was white guy fast, it only got funnier.

His draft profile, man, was just spot on...and the team that had just flamed out on Vince Young thought "nailed it, this is our guy"

An extremely gifted athlete, Locker's production does not match his talent. He possesses a cannon for an arm, but he is not an efficient passer. At this point, his greatest asset is his athleticism and it is unclear if he will ever be a starting quarterback at the next level.

 

Also, god, he returned to school because he was told he might not be a 1st round pick in a draft that had Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow, and Jimmy Clausen as the top 3 taken...
