What is there to investigate? If your name is anywhere near the words "ACCUSED OF PARTICIPATING IN GANG RAPE OF MINOR" you should not be able to be a professional athlete anymore

“Looking into the entire situation” = will only do something if the PR gets bad enough, that about right?

I agree with all of this but it should also be noted that a tiny fraction of the upper class has more influence on elections and the law in this country than the majority. It’s not a true democracy. I would also just add that the laws themselves were written and interpreted from the male point of view, i.e. the patriarchy, and they need to be re-examined and rewritten to incorporate consent and define assault in a way that accounts for power dynamics and the female point of view.

Crazy right. Coming from the league that had jurisdiction to suspend tyrell Pryor 5 games for something he did off the field in college.

Edit: Which was trading his personal property in exchange for a tattoo.

I’m not a lawyer but I thought reaching out to the victim would be a form of witness tampering?

Reaching out to their lawyer is perfectly acceptable, which i'm assuming they didn't do either.

Deeply funny that the NFL has no control over an aspect of training camp

Yeah, the team is not a party to the lawsuit and them getting discovery would not inherently affect the case. A defense attorney may be hesitant to provide info if the team might use it to smear an accuser or hand it to their player to defend themselves...but its definitely the bare min a team should do

Now reports are coming out that the Bills didn’t know until yesterday? I want to believe but it seems like the wheels of their PR machine moving. I’m so disappointed in my team and hope we can get an honest explanation.

The idea they didnt know in April seems possible (that was the original reporting), but every report seemed to indicate they knew about a month ago, and certainly before they locked into him as their guy.

edit: And actually, that tweet just says that of 5 other teams, two kinda knew something and three didnt. Nothing about the Bills...where the defense lawyer literally contacted them.

It amazes me how bad these teams are at PR; like the Bills are gonna spend 6 figures easy trying to spin this when just being truthful/open about it would save them a lot off hassle. Contact the defense and police department and announce that you did so (or that they wont comment, etc). If what you get is clear enough that he did it, cut him. If its blurry, say you're letting the league office handle it.

he was always locked in and going to be their guy tho. You pick a punter in the fourth or fifth, he’s a lock to make the team. The other guy was always going to be a camp body.

doesn’t change that it’s bullshit they kept him after learning tho

Remember when everyone thought he was gonna be the first punter taken and then ended up being, like, the third?

Oh, yeah, I meant that they literally had a 2nd punter on the roster like a week ago, before this broke, but when they knew about this. At the very least, keep that guy around til this breaks

This is honestly the closest I’ll ever get to putting Bill on the hot seat but, if this offense doesn’t pleasantly surprise this year Bill has a lot to own up to. How do you lose Josh, decide to implement a whole new element into your offense, and hire Matt Patricia and Joe Judge to run your offense.
