I’m not under the delusion that any other org/owner would be less disgusting about this but in the wake of #MeToo and #TimesUp and the internet demanding more “accountability” when famous people hurt others, it looks like we’ve gotten to the logical capitalist endpoint where owners (and other executives/public figures) realize that all they have to do is pay the slightest bit of lip service to “accountability” and then weather the PR storm until the next scandal pushes theirs out of the news cycle (look to Ezra Miller and WB’s handling them and the Flash as well) because a lucrative amount of people engage with the product anyway, so they don’t really have to actually do anything meaningful to address anything.

 

Between missing so much time playing and mindfucking himself with this all (the level of denial he lives in is very deep) I don’t see Watson even being effective that much when he returns and I think that’s great.

it’s going to bring a new low point to the Browns, right when they brewed up SOME competency.

 

The Haslams referencing attendance at practice and ticket sales as justification for signing Watson should put the fans on notice that this is on them too. I keep seeing even relatively well meaning people say don’t blame the fans but at some point you’re complicit. You should not support this team I’m sorry

 

it comes down to 2 things IMO:

1. if he missed 12 games, he wouldn't be able to get an "accrued" Season as you have to play or be available for 6 games each year IIRC
2. the NFL won't admit it but they are hoping to play up the Watson vs Texans story in that game

thats...basically it. They don't give a shit.

 

It’a also obviously not beneath the NFL to have had this plan in the mind from the jump if I’m gonna put my tin foil hat on

Sorry if this has been talked about but I’m having a very hard time guys and my world view of time has again been shattered.

watching the two-part Manti Teo and the fake girlfriend story on Netflix and I absolutely cannot and will not fucking believe that this story happened in the same timeline as Johnny Manzel winning the Heisman.
