    The rivalry is back on

Post preseason week 1 roster projection update. Quoted so it doesn’t take up a ton of room.

Updated roster prediction. I feel less good about this one than my initial one, but I think the joint practices and preseason game with the Browns is going to help figure out who the backups are likely going to be.

    Quarterbacks (2)

    Trevor Lawrence
    CJ Beathard

EJ Perry is probably gonna stick around on the practice squad. Jake Luton I think is cut. Beathard is an exceptional back-up, I don't see any reason to keep more than two.

    Runningbacks (6)

    3. James Robinson
    4. Travis Etienne
    5. Snoop Conner
    6. Mekhi Sargent

Robinson is RB1. Etienne being a dual-threat is why he won't be listed RB1 but he's gonna see just as many touches. Snoop is very obviously RB3. He's got good burst and his strength is as advertised. I'm giving the tie-breaker between Sargent and Armstead to Sargent. Armstead may be getting more work as a rusher but Sargent has gotten eight targets so far to Armstead's two. We've got Snoop to be Thunder RB2, Sargent can be Lightning RB2.

    Wide Receivers (12)

    Christian Kirk
    Zay Jones
    Laviska Shenault
    Marvin Jones
    Laquon Treadwell
    Jamal Agnew

Marvin Hall and Jeff Cotton have lost their roster spots. Tim Jones and Kevin Austin are the last two out. Maybe one of them makes the roster but these six have only solidified their position across camp so it's down to whether or not Dougie wants a WR7.

    Tight Ends (17)

    Evan Engram
    Chris Manhertz
    Dan Arnold
    Luke Farrell
    Gerrit Prince

Doug loves tight ends. Engram is solidly TE1 and Manhertz is solidly the top blocking TE. Arnold is gonna be in the mix for sure. Farrell and Prince have both been good this preseason and camp and I think they'll keep both of them because I don't think Manhertz, Engram, and Arnold are staying next year.

    Offensive Line (25)

    Cam Robinson
    Tyler Shatley
    Luke Fortner
    Brandon Scherff
    Walker Little
    Jawaan Taylor
    Ben Bartch
    KC McDermott

I think last game sealed the offensive line starters. Cam, Fortner, and Scherff have all been excellent. Shatley I think has beaten Bartch but that's the most questionable one and I could see them going back and forth. The line was instantly better with Little in there. Boselli noted the difference almost every snap he took. Jawaan and Bartch will be swing guys. The final guy is a shot in the dark. Could be KC or Will Richardson or Darryl Williams. Idk and I don't particularly care either.

    Defensive Line (33)

    Roy Robertson-Harris
    DaVon Hamilton
    Folorunso Fatukasi
    Adam Gotsis
    Malcolm Brown
    Dawuane Smoot
    Arden Key
    Jay Tufele

This group doesn't pop off the page but I actually kind of really like it. This is a diverse group capable of playing odd and even fronts. Biggest strength will be stopping the run. I don't expect many sacks from this group but RRH, Smoot, and Key could combine for 10+ easily. Coaches have been regularly praising Key, who has shown up a lot so far, and Gotsis, who Josh Allen singled out as one of their best defensive players.

    Edge Rushers (36)

    Josh Allen
    Travon Walker
    K'Lavon Chaisson

Seems wild to only have three guys listed at this position but Smoot, Key, and RRH offer versatility and can kick it outside. Devin Lloyd has also been taking reps from the edge at times too. They're gonna wanna move around these defensive pieces. Shit, they've had Josh Allen working with the LBs and Travon working with the fucking DBs. Allen + Travon will be the star power of the defense and the DL is there to supplment them. K'Lavon exists. He is still not good.

    Linebackers (41)

    Foyesade Oluokun
    Devin Lloyd
    Chad Muma
    Shaq Quarterman
    Chapelle Russell

Top three LBs are set in stone. Foyesade has been a camp star. Lloyd and Muma were two of the top three linebackers in the class and should be instant impact guys. Shaq is good depth. Idk Chapelle but apparently he's the next man up and idk about going in with only 4 LBs.

    Cornerbacks (46)

    Tyson Campbell
    Shaq Griffin
    Darious Williams
    Tre Herndon
    Montaric Brown

Top three guys are set. Tyson should take a huge step forward this year after coming on late last year. Shaq is Shaq. Darious is an elite nickelback. I love Herndon and am glad to no longer be seeing him on the field every play. He's a great guy to have come off your bench though. Montaric Brown has shown up on special teams and has been shutting down our 2s and 3s in camp. I think he's got that CB5 job on lock.

    Safeties (50)

    Andre Cisco
    Rayshawn Jenkins
    Andrew Wingard
    Rudy Ford

Cisco and Jenkins have their spots locked up. Jenkins was iffy last year but he was also playing single high and nickel WAY more than he should've been. Wingard has his problems and I love to dunk on him but fact is you can't find many third safeties in the league with that DOG in him like Wingard has. Just wind that guy up on the bench, send him in for two plays, let him lay someone out and get a turnover, and put him back on the bench before he does something stupid. Rudy was playing Jenkins's new role for a lot of last year which was stupid as fuck. Rudy is a great gunner and solid FS2/nickel guy. Smart player too.

    Special Teams (53)

    Logan Cooke
    Elliott Fry
    Ross Matiscik

Cooke is one of the best punters in the league. Matiscik is our only long snapper so yeah. Santoso is listed as the starter right now but Fry doesn't have a miss so far, while Santoso does. And Santoso seems allergic to hitting kicks down the middle. He's got the bigger leg but Fry can still hit it from 50 while also not being inaccurate.

Are the Jags switching Darious Williams to slot corner? Williams’ best season in 2020 came when playing outside corner because Troy Hill was the Rams’ slot corner and Jalen Ramsey played a good bit of slot snaps too ahead of Williams

How is Odell above Tucker??? He’s topped 320 yards once since 2016 and averaged 7 games a season. Dude should be in the top 400, but not 100
