Also just to be abundantly clear. I don’t think the WR room is good. I just think they have had NFL caliber players there in a minute.

During the Cam Newton year, Lil’Jordan Humphrey would have been WR2

The NFLPA saying they wont appeal and the NFL shouldnt either is objectively hilarious...like the NFL gives a fuck what the NFLPA thinks in a process they got absolutely fleeced in setting up

Really dumb of Watson not to take that, honestly...or to try and get them to do 8 games + $10mil or something. Dude's got plenty of money guaranteed, and now the NFL can, if they want, just suspend him for the season anyway and take the PR win

edit: And actually, that $8+mil number is almost certainly the signing bonus proration from this season (~$8.9mil), so the NFL is clearly targeting that bullshit contract

I just have a feeling tomorrow will be a bad day when this decision comes.

It feels gross to even debate on what is smart to do by each side when the guy sexually assaulted over 20 women. I don’t want to see him play again

  16. Sounds like the NFLPA knows it’s getting a favorable ruling / it’s gonna be like 6 games

  17. There’s also this reason too

Yeah, I mean the NFLPA coming out and saying "we wont appeal this to Roger Goodell if Roger Goodell wont appeal it to himself" is just so transparently stupid a move...just covering their ass no matter the ruling so they dont have to answer if its too light or too harsh

I was asked to give some ~notable~ cuts from my Eagles 53-man roster prediction and the only players I could see potentially competing for starting positions elsewhere based on experience or draft pedigree are Greg Ward and K’Von Wallace.

Ward started at WR for the Eagles late in the 2019 season after all their starters went down with injuries. He ended up leading all Eagles WRs in snaps played in 2020 before becoming more of a rotational player last season. I believe he’s a vested veteran at this point, which means, if he’s in the Eagles’ week one roster, his $1m contract becomes fully guaranteed. I don’t see a reason why the Eagles would guarantee this WR5 $1m on a one-year deal. I think they’d be better served developing a younger talent who offers more juice on both offense and special teams.

If the Eagles do cut him, I’m sure they’ll try to sign him to the practice squad like they did with RB Jordan Howard last year and call him up in case of an emergency, but his experience may help him wind up elsewhere with a WR-needy team or a familiar face before clearing waivers. I’m keeping my eyes on the Jaguars, Colts, and Commanders in that case where he would reunite with Doug Pederson, Frank Reich, or Carson Wentz respectively (why he’d want to reunite with Wentz is beyond me though lol).

As for Wallace, he was a fourth round pick in 2020 and was touted for his positional versatility coming out of Clemson as a guy who could play box safety, deep safety, and slot corner, among other roles. So far, he’s struggled with injuries and just overall play. The Eagles have had a need for young safeties since drafting him and he’s been unable to make an impact to this point. Perhaps a change of scenery helps, but I have a difficult time justifying a roster spot for him at this point. As I mentioned, the only thing that he has going for him is that he might be the only safety the Eagles have under contract beyond this year.

Putting together a 2023 NFL prospect watch list and this defensive line class is insane.
