I thought when Bo was on the Lions he looked decent enough to be a tandem or committee RB in the NFL.

 

I definitely didn't think he was bad enough for an NFL exit altogether but I think he's trying to show he can be a contributor

 

Idk if he meets whatever criteria for “vested veteran” that they have, but I’d imagine it’s really hard being a RB4/5 if you’re more limited with your practice squad eligibility

i do like it.

I will accept Jimmy Smith or Tony Boselli also. Boselli is probably the answer if we’re talking peak, or if he played 10+ years, cause I mean that guy made some of the most elite pass rushers of all time look like junior varsity kids.

But Fred was a huge part of both of our strongest rosters ever - 1998-1999 and 2005-2007 - probably THE most feared weapon that got gameplanned against the most. He was the only guy that led TWO separate series of playoff runs and he was also our greatest threat / highlight reel that kept me excited about the team when we were bad in between. He’s probably the reason I overvalue runningbacks cause if you have a guy like Fred or better, that completely transforms your offense by itself.

Sure, Jimmy could burn anybody deep, he gave us a situation-specific trump card that punished defenses any time they tried playing press coverage. He was like a 90s Ja’Marr Chase who just had special legs / perfect footwork and could toy with people downfield if they didn’t put a safety over the top. He deserves to get in the Hall before he dies. But take that a step further - you could throw *several* Pro Bowl defenders at Fred play after play and still not stop him from breaking off at least 1-2 (if not SEVERAL) beautiful 15+ yard runs. Obviously that’s true of the GOATs like Barry LT and AP, but there’s a lot of compilers on the top 40 list that didn’t have that “shake 4 guys out of their shoes” kind of skill.

Nothing scares a defensive coordinator more than a QB literally handing the ball off and scoring ridiculous touchdowns just by simply not getting tackled lol. Fred was that dude. There were plenty of RB who got their 30 carries on an offense that didn’t pass that much… plenty of those guys went off against bad defenses. But Fred was one of the few who scared the good ones, including the two overall best AFC defenses of the era (Baltimore & Pittsburgh).

It’s a pretty good list tbh. Only one I really hate is Joe Namath. he won unlikely games, I get it. John Elway syndrome.

Curtis Martin was an absolute machine for like 10 years at the hardest position in football to hold up. I know I just talked shit about compilers, but Martin had 10 straight 1000 yard seasons and had his most carries and yards (371-1697) in his tenth season at 31 years old. That, will NEVER be done again lol

 

I can’t really argue against Mean Joe Greene. I never saw him play though. Id probably go Polamalu for a more modern pick.

 

I’d pick Revis over both tbh, since Namath is not a top 10 QB of all time and Curtis Martin is very borderline on the top 10 RBs of all time (favorably looking at him, somewhere near the very back end of the list, less favorably top 15), but I’d say Revis is a very solidly top 10 CB of all time
