Not defending Tua with this comment but I just learned that the Miami offensive line last year won “pass block rate” only like 47% of the time last year. Not surprising that that’s dead last in the league.

So… I read that mean that their offense line got beat basically every other pass play which… Jesus Christ no wonder QB play by Tua may have looked bad at times if he was getting pressured so much.

 

All I'm asking is for league average OL play before we fully judge him. If he can't do well this year go get someone else

 

I'm a big fan of 4/5 of their line and a big enough hater of the 1/5 to not believe in the unit

 

It was the Jimmy G of it all that was really the line for me lol

 

Surprised the dolphins oline was worse than Steelers in pass blocking lol

Early down accuracy?

So this is basically QBs with the most conservative coaches who stack their completion percentage with YAC-reliant short passes when it’s not third down. Got it lmao

makes perrrrrfect sense that Tua (throwing endless short passes to Waddle), Cousins (Mike Zimmer hated throwing downfield so much), and Jimmy G (Deebo + Shanahan calls a lot of screens) lead the list

Eh, their roster as a whole, depth and all, isn't really any good. I gave weight to teams with depth, especially young up and coming depth. Steelers only have one, maybe three guys in that category at most.

 

Pretty sure Deebo was used more downfield last season than he ever was in his first two seasons with the Niners

 

Which isn’t to say Shanahan doesn’t get Deebo involved close to the line of scrimmage too, because of course he does, but I wouldn’t use Deebo as an example of why Jimmy G throws a lot of short passes. That’s just who Jimmy is. He loves to target the middle of the field as opposed to outside the numbers and deeper down the field.

 

i feel the opposite, I’ve been so out of the loop the last few years I’m starting to care less and less about football lol

 

This is for the best. I’ve found myself falling out of it a bit this year and it’s been refreshing

 

I just don’t know that I agree with weighing depth that heavy.

I’d take the Steelers starting roster well before ours and us having better depth (in *some* places - we have awful depth on half our roster too) is not gonna give us more W’s. Trevor Lawrence is basically gonna have to explode this year for us to be as good as the Steelers
