Yeah getting on base is the really impossible part.

Cause even if you manage to read the pitch correctly, time it right, swing at the right spot with good form, and hit with intentional accuracy so that it hits the grass between two outfielders…

Chances are STILL 1) none of us is strong enough to hit the ball far enough to really catch them off guard… 2) none of us is fast enough in a sprint to get to first base before they can scoop the ball up and throw it there

I like Badlands and LOVE Thin Red Line and Tree of Life. Still need to see Days of Heaven, The New World, and A Hidden Life. Song to Song and Knight of Cups are not good though, I agree. Haven't seen To The Wonder but Affleck + its connection to Song/Cups doesn't give me a lot of hope

 

I was super fired up for To the Wonder (its actually the last movie Roger Ebert reviewed before he died)...and it just, kinda was ok?

Badlands was my favorite film we studied in film school, absolutely brilliant. Malick was a solid 20-30 years ahead of the generation of mumblecore films. But yeah, everything after Tree of Life was just a less focused Tree of Life

 

Moneyball is such a good movie

 

But there are plenty of better movies lol.

 

disagree with point 2 entirely. if prince fielder can run to first in time, i know a bunch of us can. you see players all the time jogging into first base easily on singles that drop in the outfield.
