couple nuggets from the Phins podcast I trust:

- Their #1 priority right now is bringing back Ogbah. They are still in touch often
- they have not spoken to Gesicki about a longterm contract anytime recently
- the "plan as of now" is to sign 2 or 3 starting OL in free agency, with Terron Armstead and Laken TOmlinson topping their list

nothing groundbreaking, but interesting for sure

 

I think if he hits the market they will be bidding against themselves, so they've got to lock him up before FA.

 

main comp for him might be the Jets due to a massive hole at RG and system fit

 

if we can get 2 of Armstead, Tomlinson, J. Daniels, Corbett, etc I would be ecstatic

 

The Jets will probably swing and miss on every top FA again and then give Flacco $10M to ride the bench

There have been concerns about his off-field behavior for years now. Alshon was one of the first players vocal about Wentz playing favorites and not showing great leadership, but he got so much shit for it for being anonymous. Then Howie refused to pay Malcolm Jenkins partly because he was an older player but also because he wanted to make Wentz the unquestioned leader in the locker room moving forward, which obviously he failed miserably at. All of those concerns followed to Indy, which is why there are reports calling his leadership and accountability into question. It was mentioned a lot on some Eagles podcasts from 2018-2020, but I don't think it really spread to mainstream media until 2020 and obviously now.

I shouldn't laugh because he really has had a tough go at it in recent seasons. I hate to see young players' careers get sidelined due to injuries.

yes I know one guy is a rookie and one was a 2nd year guy

 

Different expectations

 

Yeah but the texans were a shit team expected to win a game or two and the dolphins were at least maybe a playoff team

 

One QB was drafted 5th overall and the other was drafted 67th overall

You can say what you want about Tua's surroundings, but Mills' aren't any better

 

Tua was better in very category not listed and had a QBR 14 points higher than Mills

I was thinking about this — am I very time biased/team biased to say that I don’t think Montana is a top 5 QB of all time, much less GOAT?

(Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Favre, Unitas are the 5 I’d put over him)

 

Brady = GOAT

Manning = 7x 1st team All-Pro in an era overlapping everyone on this list but Unitas, plus Drew Brees who I’d probably put #7

Rodgers = 4x MVP and counting, absurdly great with ball security even compared to the greats

Favre = 3x MVP, held just about every passing record until this top group came through, basically re-defined the QB position to what it is now

Unitas = basically a better Montana but 20 years prior (1 fewer ring, better in everything else but INT%, shockingly similar career lines despite playing in the two decades prior to Montana which were even less friendly for QBs)

 

If we wanna talk about who would thrive in current NFL offenses I immediately think Marino

Idk who my top 5 would be but don’t strongly care either

Marino would murder everyone in todays offense. I don’t think Aaron Rodgers is too 5. I do think Montana is.
