Can someone explain why the Browns traded so much and paid so much to get him? Did they just think nothing was going to happen? Or do they have things written into his deal where they won't have to pay him? I just don't understand it.

 

They probably did protect themselves with a clause in the contract. Honestly nothing justifies it. Wish Haslam would get genuinely burned over this decision but more likely it’ll just be a year of bad PR, and then forgotten / just a thing rival fans talk shit about

Look at the base salary in year 1 compared to the rest of the deal...when a player is suspended, they are only forfeiting base salary, not any of the signing bonus money, etc.

But they basically built Watson's deal under at least some presumption he was going to get suspended. I just don't think they counted on the uncertainty of will he be charged and is he going to be declared guilty being the kind of thing that feels like he might not play again

This is a good montage of the best highlights of Taylor’s career. Lot of examples of that special stuff that makes him even better than his numbers in my eyes. His lateral agility to freeze and elude defenders; his ridiculous burst and long speed; and his creativity with juke moves, cutback angles and setting up blocks; are traits that only a couple other “greats” could match. While there are different styles of RB, Fred was a very rare athlete with an elusive style that was fun as hell to watch. 4.2 speed at 230 pounds with some power too, and just a plethora of different moves.
