the people in Florida are both the worst and the best. It’s a very weird dynamic. I’ve met more shitty people there than anywhere else but I also have way more loyal friends there than anywhere else. It’s a lot friendlier than the northeast you just gotta be careful who you’re friends WITH

Also winter is the worst. No living plants for months, getting dark early, dealing with fucking ice, vitamin D deficiency from all the grey days… all those things are trash lol. Extended heat is gross and uncomfortable… but cold is actually depressing and actually requires work to deal with haha

winter is like a cute gimmick when the trees first die and the Christmas lights go up and it snows the first 1 or 2 times. By mid January I’m fucking over it and ready for the sun and actual beautiful nature to come back. Whereas, mid-July, sure going outside kinda sucks but I’m still out enjoying my life

 

Just give me spring and fall.

 

In Maryland I’ll take March - July and September - December

The weather’s fucking great most of the year. It’s still great now, we’ve only had like 2 extremely hot days so far.

Both autumn colors and spring colors are phenomenal here because 1) Chesapeake Bay Area has an absurd amount of tree and plant diversity 2) cherry blossoms. And it is extremely green and overgrown looking in the summer too which I also love.

Really just fuck August, January and February.

 

Climate change is going to make you pick between very hot and very cold sorry but the good seasons are slowly going bye bye

I randomly was researching the Midwest today (because of course) and Cleveland really does look a lot cooler than it gets credit for.

I want to ride my bike 40 miles on the Towpath trail from downtown Akron, through Cuyahoga Valley, into downtown Cleveland. That looks like a must-ride for a cycling enthusiast. I’d probably bring high protein snacks and stop frequently to rest / take photos / go on short little hikes to the falls, and make it an all day thing.

 

Haha that’s awesome. I have done that ride and it killed me because I’m not much of a bike rider but it was just something I couldn’t pass up. I didn’t even have to drive anywhere I just left from my house.

theres a reason I wanna go the other direction from Akron to the lake lmao. More downhill.

but I’ve done rides like that before. Shit, from where I am to the National Mall / Georgetown DC is like a 20 mile ride if I take the river trail, and I’ve done that a few times.

I also, at the onset of the pandemic when I was going stir crazy inside, did 25 miles from downtown Atlanta to the lake in the back of Stone Mountain park, and rode about 3 miles straight uphill otw back before I gave up and called an XL Uber lol. (I did have a mask with me just in case… going outside and biking was the only thing I did to get out of the apartment)
