It’s early, but this Chicago regime change feels especially sloppy. Old regime moved a bunch of picks to get *their guys* in their do or die year. New regime didn’t have the picks and seems intent to do a slow build looking for *their guys* less than one season later

 

Controller is the lead accounting person in a company (typically) and reports into the CFO. responsible for the financial statements, internal controls, etc.

 

i'd rather the new guys take a year to figure it out. they have the cap space to make moves next year i believe and it's pretty obvious what the old regime built was a garbage fire

 

agree, I’m not critical of the new regime, I’m critical of whoever in ownership set everyone collectively up to fail by green lighting big and expensive future moves and then firing the people who made the moves

 

I feel like a lot of coaches and GMs do those sorts of things when they're trying to save their jobs.

 

Yeah. Everything makes sense in a vacuum — old HC and GM pay up in future assets to try to plug the biggest immediate holes because they don’t care at all about the future state of the team if they can’t fix things in the present. New HC and GM have the leash to slow play the rebuild and bring guys in who do things their way and fit their schemes and have no ties to the previous regime’s decisions.

It just also is undeniably awful asset management to have spent a 1, 2, 3, and future 1 (that the new regime now didn’t get to use) on a QB who is getting thrown to the wolves and a tackle who seems to have lost his job after 1 season and you’d think there’s someone who is a common thread between the two regimes who could have either made the regime change a year earlier if the plan was going after a new QB or given them a year but no trade up power or something like that idk
