people used to think of Stafford in the same vain as Cousins/Carr and then he goes to a really good situation and wins the Super Bowl

I think you could probably do that with Cousins or Carr, but I dont think they are remotely in good enough situations to do that

I mean, even then, if you replay the 2021-2022 playoffs 100 times, how many times are the Rams and Stafford going to a winning the super bowl? Stafford played really well in the playoffs, but how many times are the Packers going to shit the bed against the Niners? How many times are the Chiefs not making it to the super bowl? Etc etc etc

It's awesome that it ultimately worked out for the Rams and Stafford, but I think they were able to overcome some key injuries to their team and a lot also went right for them (didn't have to play the Packers, or better AFC teams in the super bowl).

I think that's fair to say about Carr, you've never seen him with a great all-around supporting cast, but I'm not sure Cousins is as interchangeable, since his first 1-2 years with the Vikings he had a really good overall supporting cast around him (obviously not AS good as the Rams) and he still didn't do shit

 

I disagree that Cousins had a really good overall supporting cast around him in Minnesota. He had two really good WRs, but not much else in the way of receivers and he had an offensive line that was mediocre at best in addition to a declining defense and a defensive-minded, "establish the run" head coach

 

I guess so... but I mean he threw for 4,200 yards, 33 TDs and only 7 picks in 2021...similar numbers in 2020 (though more INTs)

as an example, if Tua has those stats in 2022 I will be ecstatic

 

Idk, I think people always knew Stafford was a very talented QB in a bad situation. It’s the reason why the Rams Stafford trade was such a popular move. People would’ve fuckin laughed at it if they traded Goff and even more picks just to get Carr or Cousins. The public perception in favor of Stafford was clearly higher for most people to look at that trade and right away know that it would be worth it / would probably get them a ring.

 

I hate the Rams and I wanted their moves to blow up in their faces but when they got Stafford & Von Miller I knew “damn, they actually might do it now” and that’s why I was salty all year about them being “loud” lol

Pretty simple, I don’t want one fuckin team to get all the best free agents lol it’s lame. I hate the Yankees and Lakers too and that doesn’t seem to bother anyone

 

I was critical of the Rams doing that trade for Stafford, even though I thought it was great for Stafford as an individual. I think the Rams really fell into a great opportunity to strike for a super bowl by trading for Von Miller, then signing Odell Beckham for basically free right before Robert Woods went down for the season.

It’s natural and I get why it happens. But it’s the antithesis of all my sad pathetic small market teams that have to like draft perfectly and then BEG for other talent to tumbleweed past us for a year or two just to taste success

Well those two have a long standing history of doing that where people specifically go there to buy a ring. Von Miller was traded. OBJ was passed up by 31 other teams. Ramsey was traded. Stafford was traded. What free agents are we even talking about
