  1. Cousins is also due 45m next season. So they’d have to give us a pick to take him imo lol

Admittedly, Minnesota's defense has been declining fast ever since Cousins got there and their head coach never seemed the think so. Should have done with DeFilippo wanted to do all along and just air it out to Diggs and Thielen, but that made Zimmer a big mad boy

I gotta say I am a little intrigued by the level you put Carr at cause you certainly rate him higher than I do

his numbers are pretty solid most the time but I think it’s because he plays too safe, and doesn’t take enough risks or stand firm enough in the pocket under pressure to actually be *good*

I easily put Stafford above Cousins and Cousins above Carr personally. They’re not like multiple tiers apart - it’s more like Stafford and Carr are separated by one tier and Cousins is in between…. but it is a clear ranking for me

Even if Cousins is traded (I doubt he will be honestly), the Vikings would absolutely have to eat some of that salary. A team receiving Cousins in a trade would be taking on $35m of his contract. I think the Vikings would have to take on an additional $10m of that before teams would seriously consider trading for Cousins

    Stafford or Carr > Cousins

Stafford’s stats get hurt by risky throws and gambles but I never doubted his ability to lead the offense when it matters most. I’ve seen less of Carr but off memory I feel like he puts up comparable stats to Cousins with generally a weaker offense. With Cousins I know he’ll be the reason his team loses at least 2-3 crucial games a season. He’s good, but I wouldn’t waste picks on him unless you’re in a Rams type place where you just need someone better than Jared Goff

I've mentioned in here before that I think Carr is a top 15 QB, which is exactly where I think Cousins and Stafford are too. I'm not going to split hairs over putting them all in different tiers. I think they're all good QBs who need help around them in order to succeed. Cousins just gets a ton of criticism because he's making a shitload more money than Stafford and Carr are relative to his prodution.

Ahh the Cousins debate, only my second favorite QB debate, behind Dak/Wentz, obviously

Do you think Stafford suddenly doesn't make risky throws and gambles? I mean, late in the second, I'm pretty sure the dude led the league in interceptions on his own side of the 50 lol

I mean statistics wise Cousins blows Carr outta the water and it’s not close

Carr is rarely the reason the Raiders lose but I’d also say, for a franchise quarterback, it’s pretty rare for him to be the reason they win too. Usually feels like he escapes with a win rather than taking over the game

Carr is exactly middle of the pack to me. Not gonna hurt the team with too many bonehead decisions but he ain’t gonna elevate you if you’re getting outplayed either

If a Kirk Cousins to Carolina trade goes down, Robby Anderson will fight Cousins before training camp ends.

I would argue that Cousins is rarely the reason why the Vikings ever win as well. Cousins just has significantly better WRs to throw the football to

Cousins with O'Connell could be pretty cool

He didn’t always though! Cousins looked solid throwing to absolute garbage in DC lol

This is why I don't think the Vikings are trading Cousins. Can't imagine Cousins' former QB coach is gonna trade him away once he gets the chance to work with him again

I’m not gonna get up and bang the table for Cousins though tbh. Cause I still am underwhelmed by him. As good as Justin Jefferson was this year, Cousins missed him on about 300 more yards and at least 3 more touchdowns that a more consistent QB would’ve hit

I'm of firm belief that you need the right QB paired in the right system

And it can be grating when it's forced, such as Bill O'Brien thinking every QB has the mental processing of Tom Brady

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not going to pound the table for Cousins either. I just think the narrative around Cousins would be different if he was making significantly less money and was closer in pay to Stafford and Carr.
