and tbh I think Jackson is going to demand just as much if not more money (and much longer term) than Gilmore, and Gilmore wants to be here (close to home) and might give a slight discount. I don't think it'd be dumb to keep him at all as long as the price isn't outrageous.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure something is up. I know Henderson was a divisive prospect in draft circles back in 2020, but the Panthers are paying a much cheaper price to take a swing on him than the Jags did. Even if it doesn’t work out, I don’t fault the Panthers for trying.

 

I definitely think Jackson will go for more than Gillmore simply due to age. If Gillmore really doesn’t care about contending, then I suppose the Panthers keeping him around as a veteran leader to help out Horn and Henderson is fine. I would prioritize Jackson though if I were them, but I also wouldn’t break the bank for him either. That’s when I’d hit up Gillmore about staying

I know we’re bad right now. Obviously can’t deny that. But it’s not like we’re a bad team with no good players and are devoid of any hope. We have several good, young players, mostly on defense, but overall on both sides of the ball. The defense is actually coming together very nicely. And we have solid weapons and RB depth. We were bad last year because of two things, OL and QB.

Fixing the OL shouldn’t be rocket science. But finding a QB is the hard part. If they keep failing there, then yes, we will keep sucking. But if we happen to find that guy, we are fine. So I don’t think we should completely operate as a tank team or whatever. Keep building a strong roster and hope the QB thing works out eventually.

We legit should’ve took Wirfs and Jefferson and I was right to be very underwhelmed with Henderson and Chaisson. Also wanted Trevon Diggs over Shenault.

Panthers entered the last two drafts with glaring holes at tackle and passed on both Wirfs and Slater. It’s infuriating.

Justin Jefferson especially hurts though. People kept telling me “nah Chase is the real threat in that offense” and while that was true to an extent, I was adamant that JJ was elite too and was really getting underrated because of it. He was one of my favorite WRs I’ve ever “scouted”

i still have hope because I think Doug is a good coach who understands how to develop quarterbacks. Wanted Byron the most but, in terms of turning Trevor around, Doug was also a top tier option compared to almost everyone else available

 

As someone that said I was not into my team taking JJ at the time, I fully admit that I was wrong and I can say with full confidence that I am, in fact, very hurt

My son has somewhere learned that pink is a girl color. He definitely never learned that from me or my wife as we do not push "this is for boys and this is for girls". Maybe watching Minnie Mouse always having a pink dress, or kids at school saying it, etc is why he thinks that. An example is he has a toy from one of the shows he watches that is a pink ice cream truck, but it is a boy in the show, but he keeps calling it a girl so we have to always correct him.

Just a little anecdote of how damaging outside influence is on a kid and that as a parent I might try to do all the right things but it's so hard to fight what he encounters out in the world. And at almost 4 years old he is so impressionable and it's hard to make him unlearn that kind of stuff.

One day we will have to talk about race and as a white guy that's tough and I don't have many non-white friends to have that conversation with him and it isn't impactful coming from me. Will have to have Randall come and walk him through it.

 

Having children sounds so incredibly stressful. I've never had to teach my cat racism and capitalism
