I'm curious what the Panthers do with Stephon Gilmore / Donte Jackson / Hassan Reddick this offseason. All 3 are free agents. I'm assuming Jackson is the guy we try the least to keep, as much as I love him. And obviously I'd prefer to keep Both Reddick and Gilmore....but if we can only keep one, I'm not sure which one I'd pick.

I think I'd lean with Reddick because pass rush is more important (and we have Horn as our top CB). However, Reddick and Burns are a relatively small duo on the edge. It's one of the reason why we would get manhandled against the run and against more physical teams.

The pro for keeping Gilmore is that him and Horn would be a really good CB duo. I'd feel comfortable against most receivers in the league with those two guys (plus the young guys we have makes nice depth). On top of that, Gilmore + Steve Wilks as DB coach would be huge for the development of our secondary. Strong leadership on the field, in practice, and in the film room.

Really hard to predict which way they'll go.

 

The Panthers trading for Gillmore was one of the more confusing and laughable moves any team made this past season

 

I mean we gave up a 6th round pick that's like 2 years away so who cares

 

The CJ Henderson trade was the one I'd say is confusing and laughable.

Trading a replaceable TE and a third round pick for a second-year corner on their rookie contract who was drafted in the first round and could potentially be a part of the Panthers rebuild >>>> trading a sixth for a good corner in their 30s who will likely be bad before the Panthers are good again

 

You have to question why a team would trade their top 10 pick a year later though. Like I know the Jags are dumb but teams don’t just bail on a top 10 pick like that unless something is up.
