Fair, that’s definitely something about Wilson that wasn’t in his college tape. I was more so referring to the fact he was extremely aggressive about throwing downfield. He was great at anticipation in college but the timing is so much less forgiving in the NFL, the window between “too early to be completed”; and “too late / intercepted / hospital ball” is tiny. I felt that it was always likely he was gonna throw a lot of picks until he got a better frame of reference for how fast NFL defenses really can close in on the ball

You know, last year was horrible but the memory of Josh Allen intercepting Josh Allen is still probably one of my all time favorite Jags moments

it was such a savvy, smooth interception for someone who almost never dropped back into coverage before this year. Dude literally is not just a DE, he is a linebacker who excels at blitzing and I can’t wait to see us continue to unleash his true potential as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme. That is exactly the kind of pass rushers I wanna build my defense around.

I would be cool with this, but I’ll be surprised if the Eagles shell out the kind of money I think Williams is going to go for

No need, they already cornered the market last year

    The rivalry is back on

To put some numbers behind it, here’s how a large chunk of the recent class performed in their first two years (“good” means QBR>60 just as a means to standardize it)

Good QBs, Were Good By The End Of Second Season Starting:
Burrow, Mahomes, Dak, R.Wilson, Ryan, Murray, L.Jackson, Herbert, Newton, Luck, Watson

Good QBs, Had Questions After Season 2:
Stafford (injured year 2, was good in year 3), Allen

    ———
Second/Third Tier QBs, Good By Season 2 Starting:
Cousins, Wentz (peaked in S2), Garoppolo, Winston

Second/Third Tier QBs, Hadn’t Emerged by End of S2:
Carr, Tannehill, Dalton, Flacco, Bridgewater, D.Jones, Mayfield (broke the barrier in year 3), Goff (broke the barrier in year 3), A.Smith

    ————
Recent Draft Busts, Looked Promising After S2:
    Trubisky (peaked in S2)

Recent Draft Busts, No QBR>60 After S2:
Darnold, Bortles, Bradford, Mariota, Lock, Brissett, Gabbert, the long list of guys who didn’t have enough sample to even make a leaderboard

    The rivalry is back on

TL;DR — every elite QB in this current class of QBs (and going back to formerly elite QBs who debuted after QBR was set) showed it by year 3, with a very large majority showing it by year 2

those who didn’t may have developed into mid-tier starters but likely flamed out

regardless, I think it’s safe to conclude that teams are too patient as opposed to too rash in their rookie contract QB decision-making
