i agree with all this but imma play devils advocate and also say he was right on one sentence - habits in practice become habits in games. He definitely needs to clean that up, because this is still an audition and he is being scrutinized a lot as an FCS prospect… coaches aren’t gonna think he’s “not being pro” they’re just gonna be worried about penalties and impulse control in the heat of the moment

coaches love a nasty offensive lineman but there’s a fine line, you can be as nasty as you want as long as it’s within the rules and between the whistles

 

Practice habits can be fixed with coaching though. A lot of coaches love that stuff he’s doing because it brings a different level of competition to practice.

The Senior Bowl is a tryout. Go all out and prove you belong. That’s what Penning did.

His peers voted him as the best lineman on the National team so they clearly didn’t have a problem with him playing to the whistle.
