I just don't understand how he is measuring things that are intangible

 

Jordan Davis is like the nose-tackle version of Aaron Donald and should go top 10, that is my take and I am sticking to it

MOST of the time, DT isn’t a “premium” position. However when you get a guy who’s that dominant of an athlete it single handedly transforms your defense. Even the most mobile quarterbacks struggle with interior pressure, not to mention pretty much none of UGA’s opponents were able to run up the middle against him.

An interior guy with *ridiculous* power and athleticism is arguably one of the biggest chess pieces, maybe even a bigger one than an elite MIKE linebacker. Because of how damn much that can move linemen out of the way so your other DL get more pressure / LB get more backfield tackles

Jordan is the kinda guy who requires double teams every snap just to slow him down, probably still wouldn’t “stop” him from getting production. I have been higher on him than most this draft cycle because too many people stick to conventional wisdom even when there’s a major anomaly. Personally I think Aaron Donald was a STEAL at 13 and Davis will be too if he falls to the teens. Only reason Vea wasn’t a steal at 12 is because he started slow and it took some time for him to “arrive”

 

Like if we are acknowledging Vita Vea has arrived and was really good for TB this season…. Jordan Davis is at LEAST that good of a prospect

Yeah, just because it claims to be analytics doesn’t mean it’s operationalized in a way that actually answers the questions being asked

This has been one of the themes I’m learning in college - actual academic research is like this. While most research studies conducted in academic organizations are legit, there are certainly a significant number of published and scholarly reviewed studies that are still bullshit, so it CERTAINLY applies to the sports analysis world where a lot more amateur data crunching and algorithm design is happening
