New York Jets select Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn One of my favorite players in the draft. A complete corner imo. Can play inside or outside and in any situation. Good tackler, good ball skills. Top of the SEC in pass breakups. Also fills a big need for the Jets.
Giants select Kenyon Green, IOL, Texas A&M. throw a dart anywhere on the offensive line aside from Andrew Thomas and the Giants have recently struggled mightily there. Fortunately, Green can be that dart - he can play anywhere on the line. Great functional anchor and patient feet in pass pro, he’s not the fastest but he can be a bowling ball in run blocking. The Giants DO have young potential. It makes sense to make a final last-season decision on what they have in Matt Peart at right tackle, and same with Will Hernandez and Billy Price on the interior. Andrew Thomas has been hurt a couple times which didn’t help, and Nate Solder was just too far past his prime to make an impact. Green slides in nice at left guard, replacing a left guard whose name I can’t even remember. He was the weakest link via PFF. One more year under Daboll for all of the young guys to “prove it” I reckon. If not, Thomas and Green are solid long term pieces for the OL rebuild. The Giants can pat themselves on the back for getting two absolute game wreckers in round one, while still “paying the bills” with this responsible value pick as the third best IOL in the draft fell out of the first round.
Texans select Kenneth Walker III, RB, Michigan St It’s destiny for Marlon Mack to get supplanted by the the best RB in the draft class for the second time in 3 years. AFC South with Henry + Taylor + Walker would be a RBs paradise
New York Jets select David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan Despite his injury, Ojabo is still great value at any point in the second round. Especially for a young, rebuilding team like the Jets. I like the idea of Ojabo learning from someone like Saleh while he rehabs his Achilles. It’s a bit of a risk but well worth it.
The Bears select Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State. I feel like the Bears are determined to see Justin Fields fail. I am not, so I’m bringing in a weapon that can hopefully replace Allen Robinson and give Fields a shifty, explosive option to find when he’s running for his life.
Evan Neal Kyle Hamilton Roger McCreary David Ojabo Tyler Lockett (trade) @Night Channels do you approve?
The Lions select Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington Pick a spot on the defense and it’s probably a problem area for Detroit. Gordon hopefully helps add another playmaker to that secondary
Tbh @whitenblue88 I was trying to galaxy brain and think of something else but the Colts just need another receiver so bad. By FAR their biggest need. Stop trying to make Zach Paschal happen, it’s not gonna happen. Indy selects Skyy Moore, WR, Western Michigan. the Matt Ryan experiment is not gonna work without another wideout. Colts aren’t the team that’s about to get cute and draft a young QB who likes RPOs either. Ryan’s contract hit is too huge to not commit to him for at least two years. Fortunately the Colts already have a great possession target for the red zone and tough third downs in Pittman, so they can take a shifter route runner here which is where the value is at this part of the draft.
Pascal is an Eagle now. It’s now Ashton Dulin SZN as the guy who will inexplicably be second in receiving yards on the team for the next 4 years but yes I dig Skyy Moore
Lol like the Colts roster is literally solid most places, even if unspectacular (and Nelson / JT / Leonard / Buckner is still a good core of blue chip players). but WR2 is a sinkhole
I like the McCreary and Ojabo picks. The Lockett trade would be cool too. I think our OT situation is fine but could also turn in a hurry if Becton gets hurt again. Douglas can’t spend another first on OL unless he trades Fant or Becton. Hamilton would be a fun player for Saleh but I’d rather get a wideout or edge early. This team needs immediate contributors and can’t tank another season or Douglas/Saleh are probably out.
I don’t disagree with any of that, but if they add Neal and Lockett and the offense is still terrible, or tank worthy, then Wilson ain’t it.
It would depend on Elijah Moore taking a huge step. I just don’t think a tackle helps the offense at all. Fant is good. Becton played a half of football on 2021. Getting him back, even if it’s a right tackle is big. Laken Tomlinson filled the only real hole on the OL. The only way a tackle makes sense is if a starter is traded. We used two top 15 picks on OL in the past two drafts. The roster needs help in other places. The defense is horrific.
