42nd in missed tackles 16th in pressures Last in sacks 65th in receptions 73rd in yards Last in INTs Last in PBUs 42nd in forced incompletions 44th in run stops that's pretty bad
Is that for all linebackers that don’t play EDGE? Because being in the 40s would be middle of the pack if so
With the 13th pick the Houston Texans select Derek Stingley, CB, LSU The Texans use their first draft pick from the Watson trade on Derek Stingley, a premium talent that dropped to them due to injury concerns. The Texans are banking on Stingley being fully healed and bolstering a secondary that has been void of top end talent like his for years. With the additions of Hutchinson and Stingley, the Texans have injected great talent in the front and back end of a porous defense.
Alright alright Ravens select Trent McDuffie, CB, Washington Marlon Humphrey seemed good for awhile… until last year lol. Now he’s in a division with Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and I god damn hate to admit it but the Browns are likely to be a bigger threat to this shaky secondary as well. That over aggressive shit ain’t gonna fly anymore. (Also, no disrespect to Pittsburgh weapons, Diontae and Claypool are good - it’s just their QB situation haha. Vs Pitt Baltimore can probably just stay focused on stopping Najee.) If he’s open to it, I’d shift Humphrey in the slot more often, where the Ravens have a hole and where he can really focus on his ability to attack the ballcarrier & short passes. He has a real talent for forcing fumbles, could develop into a Peanut Tillman type. But imo once Cincy locked and loaded that passing game Humphrey’s time as the CB1 in Baltimore was instantly over. So put McDuffie on the outside, where his ability to read and react and mirror is as good as anyone in the class. He’s not as aggressive as Sauce and Stingley, and their physicality is why I was hoping one of them would fall to Baltimore - but maybe that’s not what they need when the current best team in their division forces you to respect the deep ball constantly. Some scouts have McDuffie above Stingley cause his game is “cleaner” and maybe that’s what they need now that the margin for error defending the pass is so slim. Ravens are a pretty complete team everywhere else, but If they wanna win the division they have to improve that secondary. Signing Marcus Williams at safety, getting back Marcus Peters as a stopgap rotating CB2/3, and drafting McDuffie are big steps in that direction. (The only question is, does Humphrey mind playing in the slot often as long as he’s still getting that bag? I’m not the GM who’s gonna hamstring my decisions over petty little conflicts like this. I’m gonna add to my talent and not simply replace it - we’ll deal with it later if anyone’s too proud to share their piece of the pie when the situation calls for it.)
I’m gonna do the two Eagles picks and the Chargers pick all in one post since I’m making three selections all next to each other
With the 15th pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Devonte Wyatt, DT, Georgia. The Eagles' current starting DTs are Fletcher Cox, who is on the decline and was brought back on a cheaper one-year deal, and Javon Hargrave, whose contract voids next offseason. Behind those two, the only DT on the Eagles depth char worth mentioning is Milton Williams. Williams showed flashes as a rookie, but still have some developing to do given his slighter frame relative to the position. Because he may not be a one-for-one replacement of either Cox or Hargrave, one of whom will almost certainly be playing elsewhere next season, Wyatt can play this season as a rotational DT before taking over as a full-time starter in 2023. The Eagles love to have depth in the trenches and they strengthen a strength with this pick, while also keeping an eye to the future. With the 16th pick in the 2022 NFL draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select Andrew Booth Jr., CB, Clemson. The Eagles currently have a hole at outside corner with the team electing not to bring back Steven Nelson after his inconsistent play last season. While Booth may not be a perfect fit within DC Jonathan Gannon's zone-heavy scheme, the Eagles cannot pass on a first-round caliber talent at CB, especially with Darius Slay not getting any younger. Booth can come in and play day one as a starting outside corner opposite Slay and can develop his zone coverage skills throughout the course of the year. With that said, considering Gannon drew a lot of HC buzz this offseason, there is a chance he is not around as the DC next season, which is why the Eagles should not allow Gannon's scheme to deter them from drafting Booth. Who knows, perhaps he'll replace Slay as the Eagles' #1 corner in the near future. With the 17th pick of the 2022 NFL draft, the Los Angeles Chargers select Kenyon Green, OL, Texas A&M. The Chargers have made a lot of moves this offseason, but the right side of their offensive line remains an area of concern. RG Oday Aboushi was having a solid season before a torn ACL in week 5 promptly ended his season. Meanwhile, the team wisely chose to save over $10m in cap space by releasing the oft-injured RT Bryan Bulaga, but Storm Norton was not an adequate replacement for him last season. Green offers the Chargers positional versatility, having experience at every position along the offensive line except for center. The Chargers can start Green at the RT position this season, allowing them the flexibility to bring back Aboushi to play RG. Should Green struggle at RT, he can kick inside to guard to replace either Aboushi or LG Matt Feiler once it is easier to get out of the latter's contract. Regardless, the Chargers cannot forget to continue to pour resources into the offensive line so that star QB Justin Herbert can keep flicking filthy dimes up and down the field week in and week out knowing that his offensive line is keeping him, and his beautiful hair, upright.
Randall has relayed me his pick because he has an appointment rn and boy is it a fucking steal and works perfectly for them. New Orleans Saints select Charles Cross, OT, Mississippi State The Saints will miss Terron Armstead for all of one month as they take one of, if not the best pass protector in the draft. He's young and has to improve in the running game and refine his game some more but this is best case scenario for a team looking to replace their franchise left tackle.
I was just looking at prospect rankings and thinking "wait no one has taken Cross in the chorus mock wtf"
I almost picked him for the Chargers, but saw that Cross was a LT in college and I didn't want to fuck with the idea of being like "Hey, why don't you just not play the position you played in college," which lead me to rolling with Green instead.
100% what I would've done anyway. Obviously it's time to draft an incumbent for Terron Armstead. I was in my weekly therapy session. Self-improvement is gold
