Yeah I don’t care about that lol ive watched Jack for years he is very good His flaws were exacerbated because our office can’t fuckin keep a team together and our front office constantly blames the players not the coaching
Didn’t Jack have only tackles in 2021? no TFLs, sacks, INTs, forced fumbles, fumble recoveries that’s just a crazy stat line
He's definitely not VERY good. See: if his flaws can be exacerbated by forcing the team to rely on him
108 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 QB hits 192 tackles, 4 TFL, 7 QB hits, 6 PDs, 3 INTs, 2 sacks yeah i know which one i'm taking here
You’re ignoring all of my context in this post. he’s a WILL linebacker that was forced to do things outside of his skillset because our roster continued to atrophy to the point he and Josh Allen were literally our only good defenders you seem to be just fine with me saying us having a shitty line outside of Allen limits his ability to sack the quarterback, why does that logic not work for a LB who clearly is better in open space than taking on blocks? There’s a difference between “Jack isn’t a good fit at middle linebacker” and “Jack isn’t a very good linebacker”
that isn't our scheme anymore though. So if you agree he isn't a good fit at that role then you agree with moving on from him haha
lmao, if you want to be intentionally dense that’s fine but I’m not having this argument that way playing Jack at middle linebacker isn’t a “scheme thing”. It’s just a bad coaching decision. If they have a role for Foye they have one for Jack.
That's not being dense wtf lmao. That's literally stating a fact - they changed schemes and didn't feel like Jack was a fit. Foyesade and Jack are two completely different players.
yeah you’re right Foye is an even more undersized player who needs even more insulation from blockers. Which goes against your point. Foye literally needs even more of the same scheme-specific treatment as an undersized LB that Jack needs
Like, no, I don’t agree Jack isn’t a good fit for that role. I think he wasnt a good fit for his previous role but hoped a new coaching staff would see where his value actually is. Apparently not.
It doesn't go against my point lol. They felt Foyesade was a better scheme fit than Jack. Simple as that.
I don’t all of a sudden trust Baalke’s moves just because they are paired with a new coaching staff im also not in the business of blindly trusting a new coaching staff. Jags coaches have been wrong a LOT.
Nah, that’s one of the few things they got right. Too bad we have to piss all our decent moves away for literally nothing
Did they? Cause he didn't have a good season last year and has only been good when he's had a great defense around him.
Again, that’s blaming the players for poor coaching. No one on our team had a good year. Literally nobody.
I just think you dont cut a very athletic 26 year old who’s been very good at times just because the last regime sabotaged the team. You give him a chance to be part of the rebuild and if he still underwhelms THEN you examine your options. At the very least you trade him for something and if you can’t then just roll with it, it’s not like we needed that cap space. If he was 30 years old and lost a step that’s different.
I would imagine they cut him either because A) No one wanted to give up assets for him or B) There was language in his contract that made cutting him a bigger cap savings at some point. I know nothing i just can't imagine not trading him without either one of those being true.
Where we disagree is, I’d have kept him and at least given him a chance to come around in a new scheme. It’s not like we let him walk, he’s under contract and we CUT him early. His history as a pretty good linebacker before last year warrants another look Imo, a lot of players hit their prime in their late 20s. We are not cutting it close with the cap, could’ve had Jack AND Olokun if we wanted. Chark AND Kirk. I really don’t get the logic behind the worst team in the NFL treating its limited remaining talent like it’s expendable.
