With the 3rd overall selection the Houston Texans select DE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan Same pick as first mock
With the 4th pick, the New York Jets select: Travon Walker - DL - Georgia Ideal scheme fit. Walker can play inside, outside, and linebacker if Saleh/Ulbrich look to go multiple but will be a Day 1 starter at DE. The Jets were one of the worst run defending teams in the NFL in 2021, mainly because of their lack of sideline-to-sideline speed. Walker gives them significant juice up front with some really high upside as a pass rusher.
New York Giants select Malik Willis, QB, Liberty Going with my gut here. It's a new era in New York. Daniel Jones isn't it and if Daboll can work his magic with Malik like he did with Josh Allen, then he could have another potential MVP player on his hands. There is risk here for sure, as Malik is very raw, but his athletic profile and ability as a runner just cannot be taught and are well worth the risk.
lol Swoos is probably thrilled because he can just draft Ikem and not feel pressure to get a QB but WHOAAA
Carolina Panthers select Ikem Ekwonu, OT, NC State The Panthers have done a really good job rejuvenating the offensive line in free agency. Austin Corbett and Bradley Bozeman may not be pro-bowl level players but they are absolutely upgrades from what we had the last couple of seasons. However, LT is still a massive hole and has been since Jordan Gross retired. Ekwonu falling to #6 is a dream scenario for the Panthers. He is a day one impact starter and, along with the other newcomers, will transform this offensive line. Trading for Jimmy G is something I am leaning towards being in favor of irl. I don't necessarily hate all of the QBs in this class, but I'm not convinced that we as a team are ready for a rookie QB unless they are a 'can't miss' type of prospect. I'd much rather have a safe veteran QB locked in for the season while we continue to build a better roster. ***We are rumored to be in negotiations with Duane Brown. Even if that signing happens, this would be my pick.***
New York Giants select Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia I have suddenly pivoted away from offensive tackle and am instead taking one of the rarest athletes ever at his position. Lawrence-Davis-Williams gives the Giants an absolutely massive defensive line. Also reunites him with Azeez Ojulari and Tae Crowder.
On one hand, I say drafting a TE in the top 5 last year was probably a bad idea, but on the other hand, he is literally the only weapon they have now.
Atlanta Falcons select Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas why did i pick this team lol. This is so hard. They needed to rebuild last year and instead tried to compete. Now they are maybe selling Matt Ryan but also maybe not. Jake Matthews is re-signed for three years. They've got NO ONE at receiver, pass rusher, or safety. I just don't know what this team wants to do. What I would do? I'd blow it the fuck up and take Charles Cross here but I don't think there's any realistic shot of that happening. So here I go, building around Matt Ryan in 2022 and hoping it all works out. Burks is WR1a for me. I'm still not any closer than I have been to deciding on how I rank the top of this excellent receiver class. Burks gives Ryan a Julio sized target and while he didn't test the greatest, I have no doubt he's going to be one of the first receivers off the board. Dude is a stud and pairing him next to Pitts has tremendous potential.
I’ll maybe take you up on that if we make it past the Matt Ryan bonus deadline and the Colts still don’t have a QB
Lol I doubled down and took Hamilton last time because it's like, fuck it. We're gonna suck anyway, draft good players and hope for the best haha
