The New York Giants select Troy Andersen, LB, Montana State Why yes, that picture IS of him playing QB. He started at RB, moved to QB, and has only played LB for two seasons. Anderson was an ELITE tester on top of being absolutely everywhere for Montana State. Team captain whose leadership skills have been praised by all his coaches, including his senior bowl staff. Second leading tackler in the class. Very good tackler. Best catch rate in the draft among linebackers with more than 15 targets. Run stopping machine. You're taking a chance on his development but if he pans out his ceiling is All-Pro level.
With the 68th pick the Houston Texans select Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss Much like they did with Davis Mills in the 3rd round of last year's draft, the Texans use another 3rd round pick in an attempt to hit the lottery on a QB. Corral may not fit the ideal metrics of an NFL QB but his intangibles, processing and patience are traits Pep Hamilton should utilize to develop him into a competent backup QB or potential starter should Davis Mills regress.
Oh nice. With pick 70 the Jaguars select Jamaree Salyer, G, Georgia welp time to finish the O line. At the end of the day I would be stoked to start from the trenches. Gotta start somewhere, and giving Lawrence time to read plays, while running the ball 40+ times a game and playing physical defense, is the classic path for a full rebuild. Guy’s a 320 pound, road grader who immediately improves our offensive line. He projects inside - he’s just a little bit too short to play tackle - but he is more than prepared to handle pass blocking duties. My guy not only gave up 8 pressures and 0 sacks this year as a left tackle - his totals are 14 pressures and 1 sack in his career having played every position on the interior line as well. The primary goal is protecting Trevor. I will say his run blocking technique at the point of attack isn’t consistent yet - he sometimes whiffs his assigned defender in a pull gap; or doesn’t bend enough to get proper leverage. But the guy has the body, a Trent Williams to Richard Sherman type punch, and great intelligence about where to move at the second level. When his run blocking highlights pop, they POP, and with effective coaching he should become a plus player there too. LT - Cam Robinson* LG - Jamaree Salyer C - Brandon Linder RG - Brandon Scherff RT - Evan Neal swing tackle: Walker Little *successor to Cam if we don’t resign swing guard: Ben Bartsch backup center: Tyler Shatley *claps chalk off hands* that’s one job done.
Just as a heads up, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to keep up with this like I originally thought I could. I’m just super swamped right now with classes and my internship, which require more of my focus right now so that I can finally graduate in a month. I hate to have to dip on y’all, but I should still be able to watch the draft with anyone that spiffa sent a link to
The funniest part is there actually still a chance they take Bryce Young next year lol. 3 straight years of my least favorite guy
Browns select DeMarvin Leal, IDL, TAMU Both of last year’s starting DTs are FAs, and, while some of the in-season buzz for Leal has died down considerably, this seems like good value at the top of the third Colts select Arnold Ebiketie, EDGE, Penn St Indy does a very Indy thing and addresses the defensive line with a day 2 pick despite holes all over the roster. Ebiketie seems similar to Ngakwe in that having a pure pass rusher role is where you’re going to get the most out of him, so he seems like an especially great fit as a backup at the LEO next year to maybe take over if he flashes enough and save the Colts the $15+M in cap space that it’d take to re-sign Yannick that they’ll not use elsewhere
