I don't know if the stats or hardware back it up, but I understood him to be the best defensive 3B for a not-so-short time. Though maybe I'm wrong with that perception.

 

He was the best defensive 3B in baseball for almost a decade and was consistently an elite hitter during that period too, domo's out to lunch.
