your point is well taken and makes a lot of sense but, idk, i happened to be down there on vaca during the NFL draft and so many local people (bartenders, uber drivers, etc.) kept saying how fun football was but nobody down there really gives a huge shit about the titans, they all really want a baseball team.

i think the point of it being so close to 3 already very prominent fanbases is the biggest issue, but, people like new.

The reason there are so many franchises already there is exactly why MLB wants to get in before its too late

I mean don’t get me wrong I’d fucking LOVE it for me personally if Nashville got a team ha. It’s a blast to visit, my wife’s parents live an hour away, and the Cardinals would have a new geographical rival for the first time since the Brewers joined the NL in the 90s

But I think the market is a lot more like markets where it seemed like a good idea at the time but the team has struggled to be viable long term (Denver, Miami) than it’s like say, DC, where the team has clearly done very well. And I think Charlotte would be closer to the DC bucket if they’re hellbent on putting a new team in the southeast.

My first preference though would be two new teams neither of which are in the US portion of the Eastern/Central time zones

 

Oh for sure but if the two expansion markets are Vegas/Nashville I’m gonna roll my eyes so hard because they’re clearly just trying to capitalize short term without really thinking about what communities would be the best fit to grow the game over the next few decades. But this is Manfred and this is America so it’s not like I’m surprised lol

 

I guess why not add 52 bad hitters to the major leagues. Tyler Wade definitely needs a regular major league job
