Love to see it. I’m not gonna fault anyone who omits A-Rod and Manny though (or just Manny as I think there’s an argument to be made that A-Rod was just too good to be left out regardless of the suspension)

 

I could see him going back to the bullpen if he stinks it up this year and they call up Leiter

 

Manny was maybe the 2nd or 3rd best RHH of his generation. There’s no way to vote for one but not both.

Side note I do find it odd voters voting for Pettitte but not Arod or Manny, just seems weird to me.

 

Sure there is: A-Rod is the best player period who entered the league between 1987 and 2011. (Yes better than my beloved Albert.) Manny was suspended twice, A-Rod was suspended once.

In general I tend to agree with you that trying to parse which of the steroid guys would’ve been good enough to get in without steroids is a fools errand, but I think with Bonds, Clemens and A Rod it’s a no brainer. Not convinced beyond that.

If I had a vote I’d check yes next to Mannys name in a heartbeat and feel great about it tho

There’s no argument Arod was the better player. What I’m trying to say is both are clear cut HOFers so I don’t understand how someone who vote for one over the other when they have the same baggage. Yeah Manny failed two PED tests, Arod admitted to using PEDs multiple times. Same difference to me, I don’t care either way. Arod had also been rumored to being a PED guy dating back to high school. So again who knows when these guys started to use them (although with Clemens and Bonds it seems obvious when they started).

For whatever it’s worth I know someone who was in the Red Sox organization in the know that was pretty adamant Manny wasn’t on the juice while naming others that were. None of the players that person named were ever suspended or had names leaked which goes to show you how the PED slippery slope witch hunt is.
