Call me a homer but I think the Red Sox are better this year than last year, assuming they don’t trade Devers.

I mean an actual closer, see how Yoshida does, if Bello is legit, Story rebounds... Can't rule out improvement

Red Sox seem like a team that could win 90 games or lose 90 games and neither would surprise me that much

Yup. Losing Bogaerts hurt but they will also have Turner to replace JDM who was really bad from June on, hopefully a full year of Kike, Whitlock, Houke and Casas. They upgraded other arms in the pen too. If they make a few more moves they could be a WC contender for sure.

Maybe Sale will pitch in 10 games too haha.

I already beat this dead horse last season, but the Rays were the most unhealthy ive seen them in a long time

just an unprecedented amount of injuries that mostly affected pitching, but notably the most games missed by our two highest valued offensive pieces (b lowe and wander) had a big effect on run production

not to mention the sustained injuries to the average to above average hitters who had come off largely successful seasons (Margot and zunino) and choi who was never the same after his mid season injuries that he tried playing through

all those spots were filled with minor leaguers getting absolutely shellacked at the plate for most of the year and the Rays still won 86 games

oh and as a personal gripe, I think they ended the season with the highest or one of the highest number of outs on the bases

so yeah, a lot of these projections are worth an eye roll but because the Rays are the Rays and not many people pay attention to them, it’s often forgotten how good their core can be when everything works out with health and better babip luck

Yeah I think it’s easy to look at projections like that and quickly dismiss them because of what the team did last year/who they signed/lost without any context.

Lol the year the Rays won 108 games or whatever was the year I was like "ok this is the year they finally underperform"

Forgot about Turner, figure he has to be better than JD was.

Hope Casas does well honestly, better than Chavis or Dalbec at least

Like I said a few days ago, Bloom did a horrible job building depth for the 2022 team. He was banking on everyone having a normal year and staying healthy and no one was fully healthy or had a normal year hence the last place finish.

Very excited for a full year of Bello and Casas.

Giants really had Judge for 5 minutes and Correa for a week. Tough for their fans.
