can I crash at your place

 

Charlie Morton and I played on those fields together in 1998/1999 against Alex Gordon but now I’m just name dropping to try and sound cool.

Very first game we played on the main field I hit a double, stole 3rd and scored on a passed ball. It was all downhill from there. Then I made an error in the field and didn’t get drafted and never signed my 11 year contract. What could have been….

I was playing little league in Sarasota around 1998 and 1999 and have no recollection of any now famous ball players in the league

 

Everyone knows that the only important baseball event in the history of Sarasota is when I met Ken Griffey Jr at reds spring training when I was visiting my grandma in 2003 or 04

 

100% legit. We also went to a Devil Rays game during that trip. They played the Tigers and Miguel Cairo hit two HRs. I might have some pictures somewhere.

One of the kids on the team swears he remembers us playing against David Wright, Ryan Zimmerman and BJ Upton too but I lost the program with all the teams/rosters.

 

What was Charlie like as a teenager was he cool

 

No offense to the Rays

And I certainly try to never underestimate them

But where does that projection come from

 

Left a reds game early there a long time ago and chased down a foul ball that was hit out of the stadium while we were exiting

 

Really nice kid, good teammate. Was always happy, never complained about anything. Goofy sense of humor. He slept over my house a few times. We would play All Star Baseball and Goldeneye on N64. Never would have guessed he would be a MLB player, he was a good pitcher but was maybe our #2 or 3 best. Played a little 1B too. Not surprised he turned down bigger deals to play for teams he was more comfortable with. Would guess he’s probably the same person I remember way back when.

 

Red Sox seem way too high. Not surprised the Angels aren't even in the top 15.

The closest connection I have to a major leaguer is I think I had a big lecture hall class with Trey Mancini my freshmen year but idk really, I skipped class too much to be sure lol

Definitely had a class with Tyler Glasnows brother tho

 

OK nvm Boston is definitely the most questionable

 

Comes from some smart people who I definitely didn’t pay to say good things about my team

 

Projection systems are weird this time of year tbh; I also think the Cardinals are way too high there

 

Not sure I ever shared but I sold Joe Girardi gas on his way home from the 99 ALCS lol. I worked overnight a couple nights at a truck stop and I kid you not, I actually brought a Yankees jersey with me in case somebody stopped in.

Yeah I really want to try and get to a game where he pitches or at least his team is playing to try to say hi etc. It’s definitely cool to be able to say “yeah I played with a MLBer”.

I’ve been fortunate to have met and know a lot of MLB players, majority of the guys that are out of the game now but saying you played with one is way different.
