That has to be the dumbest decision I've seen in a while. Even if you don't want to pitch to Seager, why not just give him some pitches out of the zone to try and get him to chase? Worst case scenario you throw a wild pitch and a run scores anyway. It's Seager, he was batting .346, which is obviously very good but if you have so little faith in your pitcher you give them a free run, what are you doing?

Less than 20 non-catchers had as many PAs as McNeil in 2021 and as low of an OPS. Similar result if you use a normalized stat like WRC+. That’s damn bad in my book

I guess he’s a reasonable defender at a position that isn’t total cake so that explains the slightly positive WAR. I don’t hate the guy! But he blew chunks last year! (Btw Dom Smith and James McCann are even lower down the list than him, quite a year lol)
