I wonder if, over the next few years, ESPN will show more games from other leagues or Olympics or whatnot. Doing that would likely help grow the game and audience for the draft. It’s like if college football was not really shown anywhere and then you have the NFL draft - no one knows who anyone is unless you’re really invested, but maybe hockey will always kind of be that way.
They have KHL games on ESPN+ but only real hardcore sickos watch it. College hockey is on The U too but it’s always on Friday nights & competing with football or other NHL games in the winter. That and BTN or Bally Sports hog most of the big matchups which are regionally exclusive. Getting some kind of deal with the CHL would be nice though. Their streaming package is crazy expensive.
