At the Hossa banner raising ceremony and all the Penguins started doing super weird leg stretched during warmups, turns out it is Malkin’s 1000th game lol
the Devils are obliterating the league and yet aren't even first in the conference lmao fucking Bruins
Thought you should know Yandle said during the Leafs/Isles intermission he doesn’t think the Devils will even make the playoffs… lol
oh I saw that, yeah. Then they asked him why he said "I just don't think they can keep this up" Yes, Keith, they arent going to go 79-3, I agree sir In all seriousness, they have been the better team at 5 on 5 in all but one game this year according to the stats. And even in that game (@ EDM) it was really close.
yeah like obviously nobody is expecting them to win every game for the rest of the year, but I’d be absolutely blown away if they don’t make the playoffs the way they’re going. one of their losses was to the Wings and they absolutely deserved to win that game lol
Jersey’s at the point where they would need to go 1 for 17 during a stretch to miss. Probably worse when you consider how muddled the East is. Pittsburgh, Washington and New York don’t look too good this year.
Kotkaniemi has fumbled the bag so hard this year. Dude lucked his way into the 2C spot this year with Trocheck being a cap casualty and Staal making 6M for one more year. Gets slotted between Necas and Svechnikov who are both on fire, and he’s put up 3 points this year. Three points! He’s a great possession and face off guy, so as a shutdown 3C making less than 5M locked up long term as a Staal replacement is decent when it comes to planning for the future, this year is ugly for us. Doesn’t help that before he got hurt Teravainen was giving us nothing and Jarvis is going through a bad sophomore slump, leaving Aho with jack to work with 5v5. Goaltender has been bad this year as well. Special teams as well. Feels bad to bitch about a team that is still a top 10 team in the league, but it’s frustrating seeing a clear step back from this team even if the record doesn’t reflect it right now. Not having Patches to start this year sucks, but him coming back doesn’t magically fix this team’s problems.
I think the East absolutely will have some movement throughout the year, more so than last year, but I think unless either team has a major collapse, you can pretty much pencil in Jersey and Boston at this point. I understand where Yandle is coming from, it’s hard to believe in a team that has consistently been rebuilding for several years, but the Devils have great possession numbers and it shouldn’t come as a surprise that a team with multiple number 1 picks is going to eventually start performing, even better that they turned a 6th round pick into their leading scorer. The biggest issue with NJ has been keeping their best guys on the ice and playing mediocre team defense from the crease out… this year it seems like they’re getting really solid play in net and it’s pretty easy to defend when you’re always controlling play. The east should be much more interesting this year than it was last year. Washington may be already digging themselves a grave outside of the playoffs… but honestly one win streak is still enough to propel any team up quite a bit right now. I watch Detroit regularly and they are winning games right now, but the schedule they’ve played has been largely against mediocre teams and fringe teams. They haven’t had to go up against the best teams yet, and when they have… Boston destroyed them, Jersey outplayed them twice (albeit, pulled a win out of one), the Rangers made them look like an AHL team in the third period. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them fall out, that’s for sure.
Looking at the league standings now, every team between 4 and 21 has between 9 and 11 wins. That’s crazy.
I don't have a great read on Detroit but I'm not as sold on the Yzerplan as most seem to. Kubalik & Perron can't really be the guys to supplment Larkin if you're planning on contending for awhile. At the same time, I think they'll be good enough to at least play meaningful games in April and that's important when you've got a first year coach & a bunch of kids on the team.
still dont really understand why Yzerman thought it was a good idea to give Chiarot that contract then make Seider play with him
Jersey will be like Florida last year (or the year before?) hot team all season then ground out by a much more experienced playoff team when things slow down.
maybe sure....and I would ultimately be okay with that. Typically teams dont win it all on their first shot into the playoffs like that the Devils have won one playoff game in 10 years. Not series. Game. So I will take whatever I can get.
If it were incidental contract, the goal should count. If it was not incident contact, it should be a penalty there was no penalty called.
