It’s going to be an ugly contract they’ll regret no matter what, but that team is old as hell so why not just go all in with a dude in his prime right now. People will malign it cause it’s Lou but what else should he be doing in that situation, you know?
my only hope is that half of the Metro division is going to be old/bad sooner rather than later Islanders, Penguins, Caps, etc
Who else are the Islanders bidding against? The Avs have made their abilities known to Kadri and his camp. Looking at cap friendly and the good teams, there is not a lot of space available. Look at the Gaudreau deal. If he went for less than expected I would think the same for Kadri unless he was able to leverage going back to Colorado against NY to get more.
Bruins and Caps are gonna be the first dominoes to fall. Islanders are probably better than what they were last year, but I’m not convinced that they are a serious playoff threat.
I can definitely see things turning in a few years and being Carolina, Rangers, NJ, and Columbus for a while. I think Pitt will have a slow descent with their moves. Washington I think will drop a little quicker. I think Philly will take some time.
As a Canes fan, trust me when I say we’ve been waiting for all the old bastards to finally fall of and lose steam for about a half decade now but we’re all still waiting.
Not sure kadri will be as good as he was last season on a worse team, feels like the fans are going to be mad they didn’t improve more
I mean,,, these tickets will likely be hard to get. I don't see how they can't sell this venue out each game. Atmosphere has to be amazing.
The player will still get paid the bonus if the league’s games aren’t played. A safety net for the rich person I think
the contracts are essentially buyout proof, because the buyouts are only based off of salary IIRC you also get your money sooner as a player each year since you dont have to wait for the majority of it in salary
Not sure if it works the same way for every sport but I think in football, the contract portion is paid out over the weeks of the season whereas most signing bonuses are paid in one lump sum. But since the other 3 major sports have a shitload more regular season games not sure if they do weekly checks for the duration of the regular season or maybe monthly. Not sure which payment method I would prefer - kind of like if you win the lottery, would you take the one lump sum or the yearly (or whatever timeline it is) payments for X amount of years.
