Not all of us were blessed with having an original six team to root for. Riding for Detroit or Pitt never seemed like the solution in Cleveland. Enjoyed the Sabers in the 90s though. But yes, to answer your question, I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to sports. The Cavs lifted any weight that I had though. Despite how slow things got going in Columbus with bad management and drafting, it’s been fun to see things pickup and the perceptions change.
I know you were messing around and I should have put something in there to acknowledge I took it as a joke.
Good episode on the First Nationwide podcast with Porty and Pierre talking the Gaudreau signing for those interested.
What is it like to be a fan of a team team that knows how to be flexible with their salary and makes good moves?
Although, it does feel like Canes are making moves to really push for a cup this season. And if that’s the case I’d do whatever it took to dump Gardiner and then try to keep both Necas and Nino.
I feel like Columbus has been good at managing their cap. The Gudbranson signing was high, but if you take some of that and move it to what Johnny probably should be making you are probably in the same ballpark, so I am not too hung up on that deal.
Every team has a bad contract or two but with Laine due for a new contract it’s a very avoidable mistake
Perhaps, but Columbus has too many smaller, puck moving defensemen. Werenski, Boqvist, Bean, Blankenburg, etc. They needed someone that can play on the second and third line, and probably at the end of games too. It was definitely an overpay, but I don’t think Jarmo wanted to get pushed around on the ice again this year. Peeke, Gavrikov, Gudbranson, Boone, Texier, Marchenko, and Kuraly feels like enough grit to spread around.
