Ravens are dumb but the worst part in all of this has been Cleveland fans saying getting Lamar out of the division justifies the Watson contract. Things with the nfl can’t just be dumb anymore they almost always have to be gross too

 

I kind of wihs the NFL still allowed poison pills just for the laughs of a team fully guaranteeing the salary each season if any game is played in Baltimore the prior season...while like, the Texans or Lions dont really have to worry about that.

I think there's 2 risks. One, a team puts up a deal the Ravens dont want to pay and then the price is lower than what the Browns paid for Watson by a decent amount. Thing its just 2 1st rounders, right?

The bigger problem is something that isnt a poison pill but that screws the Ravens. Like say a contract structured as a yearly player option, with no franchise tag ability, that if Lamar loves another team and tells the Ravens he will opt out after 1 year, makes it impossible for them to match

Eh, Kirk Cousins got a fully guaranteed deal several years ago. Mahomes' and Rodger's deals are functionally fully guaranteed (they have to decide like 2 years out to cut them to save any money). It was the inevitability.

Whats funny is that teams are trying to scrape out maybe saving money in Year 5 of a franchise QB deal. Just fully guarantee it and make them easily tradeable instead.
