I dont know about best, but, definitely top tier for just knowing what they are and sticking to it.

See, my area is littered with Cracker Barrels and Dennys and Perkins and a whole host of other pretty mid options. Theres a DC chain called Silver Diner thats probably the most reliably good (though its been a few years...so maybe they've gone downhill).

But nothing beats the place like 3 miles off the exit that looks like they converted a 3 car garage into a restaurant and just has a sign that says "Diner" out front.
