literally the face of the franchise and you don’t get a first lol. why even have the team at this point.

This haul is better than a first

    The rivalry is back on

I get the intent behind it for both teams but I’m not super keen on the execution by either.

SF is basically Super Bowl or bust now and I don’t think they’re good enough to back that up (though I’m happy to watch them prove me wrong in a wide open NFC) nor do I think any team is ever “just a running back away”

Carolina is probably gonna be bad until CMC is significantly less valuable, if not out of the league entirely, but getting a package of picks that tops out with a likely low 2 feels light, especially to pull the trigger on this far ahead of the deadline

i love the nfl where a franchise player can be given away for picks that won’t add up to anything

it was a trade so they can clear cap space. just call it what it is.

right, it’s not like this is going to be a pick in the 30s. it might as well be another third rounder.

You were never getting a first for him.

You could argue two day two picks and two day three picks are better suited for a rebuilding team than one late 20s pick

Better deal for the Panthers than SF imo. He's going to be awesome there but I don't know that this makes them 'literally don't have a 2023 draft and it's worth it' away from winning it all. They definitely could, but I feel like this only moves the odds needle so much and is pretty much instant regret if/when they fall short again.

I also think even if we're talking last pick in each round, a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th is solid return for any soon to be very cap-expensive often hurt running back. I wouldn't have been shocked if they got a first (or two 2nds maybe), but I don't think that's a bad haul at all.

I mean, this makes sense. If its Matt Corral (its not) or its whoever goes #1 to them, unless you are getting multiple 1sts for Moore, all you are doing is replacing a 25yr old WR who you have for 3 more years, with a 22yr old WR who might be as good as him who you control for 4-5 years. Way too much risk that you end up worse off.

Whereas McCaffrey, its kinda hard not to believe his healthy days are over, and so overpaying for the cheapest position in the league as a rebuilding team seems silly

That’s a good haul for the Panthers. Also, if your team’s face of the franchise is a RB, your team is bad.

Glad the Eagles didn’t give up those picks for him. Would much rather have Brian Burns, please and thank you.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Yeah I’m confused at people thinking that’s not enough for him. That’s a very good haul for an RB that hasn’t stayed healthy, and won’t be around when you finish rebuilding.

Additionally it seems so weird from the 49ers side. I don’t think he’s moving the needle that much for them but I guess we’ll see. The league is lunch more even this year so it could move them up

I think with how bad the NFC West looks, it could be enough to get them a division win, which keeps Shanahans job safe. So it sorta make sense from that angle

But, there’s two odd aspects here; first, I doubt they make this same trade if Lance is healthy because it’s a different offense…and two, there’s no world where they are a SB contender over, say, PHI. And if they ended up in the SB, they’re getting housed by Buffalo or KC by 20+

I also think it’s weird for the Niners when they, like the Eagles, have shown that any competent RB can excel in their system

I already thought the Niners were the favorites for that division so this doesn’t really move the needle much for me either

Niners really counting on a QB who hasn’t played a full season of football since 2019 being good huh

Going all in and having no draft picks when you still don’t have a decent quarterback is a bold move

I think they are getting comp picks from the hires of McDaniel etc but yeah still interesting to me that they're basically punting this draft

  24. I just don’t wanna draft a QB and have him walk into a Bears-like situation. It never works. I get wanting out of that contract, but it still sucks. DJ absolutely has to stay now.

I could still see Shaq going but Burns would be idiotic.

I’d take Shaq too but the Eagles just don’t put much capital into LB so don’t see that one happening for them.
