I hate being a fan of this team.

 

Harden always has a preferred destination that isnt the team hes currently playing for.

 

I'm cautiously optimistic for a few reasons. One, he's basically playing for his last contract with free agency next year after a summer where no one wanted him. Second, I don't think he has any problems with Nurse, Embiid, etc. (Harden is decidedly unique, though, so none of that may matter.)

That being said, they're simply not as good as last year's team even if James buys in 100%. Harden/Maxey aren't good enough to defend the top guards, and they don't have a single wing on the roster (other than maybe House??) who can defend guys like Tatum or LaVine. The only noticeable upgrade is Nurse himself.

Nothing really matters until we get the final version of the team at the trade deadline (and get Joel to the playoffs in one healthy piece), but the current roster strategy of "run it back, only worse" isn't very inspiring at the moment.
